Hair loss can also come from infections as well. A hair loss common in children is tineas capitis, or scalp ringworm. It is a contagious fungal infection that causes patchy balding spots to occur, redness and even oozing. It is very easily treatable with a pill or liquid medication, which is a good thing. Folliculitis is the inflammation of the hair follicle. This can happen for many reasons. It can lead to an infection in the hair follicle, which can permanently damage it. If caught soon enough it can be treated with an antibiotic ointment.

There are also many other things that can be reasons for hair loss. Wearing hairstyles that are very tight can cause traction alopecia. Simply changing your hairstyle can often times cure this condition. Some hair loss is a result of a compulsive pulling of hair. This can be treated through therapy.
