Permanent Loss of Hair: Causes and Remedies

Many people that experience apermanentlossofhairmay be worried that there are no remedies for their situation. However, they first need to know the cause before they can start looking for the appropriate remedy. Permanent hair loss in men is caused by many factors; some hereditary and some environmentally induced. The hereditary cause of permanent hair loss is attributed to a substance known as DHT; which hinders the hair follicles from producing enough new hair to replace the average hairs that are lost daily. Though many people might not be aware, an average person actually loses about 100 hairs daily, but this loss is for the most part not seen since the hairs are quickly replaced by the hair follicles. Once DHT inhibits the growth of new hairs in the follicle, more hairs are lost than are built and this condition results in permanent baldness. Permanent baldness can also be caused by other factors that are not necessarily hereditary.

One of the major causes of permanent baldness is stress. Stress tends to reduce the volume of the blood vessels and therefore less blood is available to the hair follicles. Since blood carries with it important nutrients that are needed for hair growth, the growth of new hair in the hair follicle is hampered. One should therefore minimize on the stressful situations and by doing lots of exercises and by having proper amounts of sleep. It is amazing how many people actually do not pay attention to the importance of sleep.

The next major cause of permanent hair loss is inadequate nutrients in the body. Nutrients such as proteins, vitamin B6 and A, folic acid, copper, zinc, and iron are essential to the growth and maintenance of healthy hair. Proteins for instance help in the building of new cells while iron helps in the in the carriage of oxygen in the red blood cells. Foods that provide nutrients essential for hair growth include animal foods, low fatty foods, green and yellow fruits, whole grain meals, and dark green vegetables. Liver may also be an important source of iron. Many women endanger the health of their hair by using very extreme diet guidelines to try to lose a certain weight. Even if they achieve their desired weight, they may end up with very low amounts of nutrients that are essential for healthy hair and hence lose their hair considerably.

Certain hairstyles are also bound to cause hair loss and it is important to consult your hair stylist or doctor on the appropriate hair styles to use. Hair styles that involve the use of too much chemicals should be avoided. Chemicals may cause burns which may damage the scalp and therefore end up causing permanent hair loss. The use of very tight braids is also harmful to someone's hair as it may cause their scalp to experience too much pressure and hence lead to the loss of hair. Heavy ponytails are also discouraged, as are Toppik fibers even though they are preferred by Hollywood celebrities. You should not use a particular hair style for too long as this may cause a permanent hair loss.
