Cellulite is perhaps one of the greatest sources of frustration and lack of confidence for today's modern woman. There can be nothing worse than being unable to confidently wear your favorite skirt or even a pair of shorts outside on a sunny day in fear of having some embarrassing cellulite on show.
Although there are many "treatments" advertised that claim complete and easy cellulite removal such as cellulite removal creams, liposuction for removing cellulite, mesotherapy cellulite treatment, Edermologie and even laser treatment for cellulite, they are expensive and mostly ineffective.
What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is the build up of fatty tissues beneath the surface of the skin and can be found consistently in the same areas of the body for both men and women; the thighs, abdominal area, buttocks and neck areas. The appearance of cellulite is obvious when present and can be described as light colored ripples or strands of connective tissues visible under the skin.
Cellulite does not occur when correct circulation is found within the body however, when fluids, stored fats and toxins are not removed efficiently they become trapped in the skin causing the tissues to become rigid and thick causing bumpy "orange peel" like lines in the skin. The appearance of cellulite can vary from one person to another however, the severity will depend on a number of factors such as genetics, diet, fitness, weight and overall lifestyle of the affected individual.
Cellulite can affect anyone but occurs more in men and women as they mature and grow older and then the affected areas can become larger and more noticeable. It is advised that regular exercise and a well balanced diet can help prevent the development of cellulite as it is easier to prevent cellulite than it is to remove it.
Cellulite Treatments
Cellulite creams are available that can help reduce the unpleasant appearance of cellulite yet, they cannot cure the underlying problem which involves the tissue under the skin itself. This is mainly due to the active ingredient, alpha-hydroxyl acids which do not remove cellulite but do aid in causing the skin to increase it's elasticity, improving the appearance of cellulite and ensuring that it is less noticeable.
Regular exercise and a well balanced diet are both recommended ways to remove cellulite as this will improve the circulation in the body and help reduce inactivity which can cause the body to age prematurely.
The diet should be balanced and should include a range of fruits and vegetables, whole grain foods, and the recommended daily intake of water. Cellulite sufferers should avoid consuming toxins such as coffee, caffeine, smoking and alcohol as these will be detrimental to the cellulite removal process.
A low fat diet can help the food digestion process which is another great way to prevent toxin build up in the body.
Massage and water therapy are two of the more effective cellulite treatments available as they help to maintain healthy blood circulation and a relaxed frame of mind. Stress is best to be avoided.
