Chanko for Sumo Wrestlers

Many people thought thatsumo wrestlershave no need to exercise and they even don’t need any special kind of diet but this is wrong.Sumo wrestlersalso eat healthy diet and they too exercise a lot. They are very healthy and flexible. Most of the wrestlers can do splits. Many of them do calisthenics every morning to keep their muscles mass up. There diet consists of steak and rice. Japanese sumo wrestlers have to eat diet that is rich in energy and results in energy.

Chanko is stable diet forsumo wrestlers. Chanko is available only at sumo food restaurants or sumo stables. This recipe is also served during the tournaments of sumo wrestlers. It contains many healthy nutrients that are good forsumo wrestlers. List of ingredients and the preparation method ofchankois mentioned below, which will prove helpful if you want to make it at your home.

Ingredients




  • Chicken (medium)-1







  • Carrots (peeled)-4



  • Onions (medium and peeled)-2



  • Leeks (washed and trimmed)-3



  • Cabbage (washed and medium sized)-1



  • Mirin-1/2 cup



  • Salt-1/2 teaspoon



  • Soy sauce-1/2 cup



  • Potato (medium and peeled)-1



  • Daikon radish(peeled)-1



  • Shiitake mushrooms-10-12



  • Tofu (deep fry)-1/2 cake



  • Water




Preparation method




  • First, bone the chicken and cut the meat into chunks in 2 inches. Also, reserve the bones.



  • Now, cut the leeks and 3 carrots in bite sized pieces.



  • Take a large saucepan and put the chicken, carrots and leeks in that pan.



  • Fill the pan with water, put the lid on it and bring it to boil.



  • Keep the flame to medium-low.



  • Uncover the pan for three hours and make stock then strain.



  • Now, cut the daikon and potatoes in bite sized potatoes.



  • Take another pot and put the both in it and boil it in salty water.



  • Cut off the mushrooms and discard the mushroom stalks.



  • Cut the caps of mushrooms and also onions in quarters.



  • Take the cabbage and chop it in small pieces.



  • Cut the remaining carrots.



  • Deep fry the tofu into chunks.



  • Take a stock pot and put the chicken meat and all the vegetables except potato and daikon in it. Also, add soy sauce to it.



  • When all the vegetables cooked add the daikon and potatoes to it.



  • Season it with mirin and salt to taste and simmer the flame for few minutes more.



  • Season and serve it in desirable manner.



  • You can also serve it with noodles as it would prove a great combination.
