Be Free of All Insects in Your Home or ApartmentThere must be an easier way Do you get infested on a seasonal basis with ants, or maybe semi-permanent roaches and whether you live in your own home or apartment find yourself calling an exterminator finding that after even a few weeks go by having to call them again for a return sweep. And what about an infestation of bed bugs. They are very difficult to get rid of and sometimes even your bed linen and clothes has to be discarded at great expense to you and your family. I have heard of families having to find another place to live in order for professional exterminators to come in and go through their whole appartment with toxic sprays. Some types of extermination methods wrap the whole multiple apartment building with a strong plastic wrap type material and then heating the interier of each appartment to a temperature of 220 degrees fahrenheit for several hours. At this temperature bed bugs are supposed to be killed. They were not always exterminated the first time around. Some tenants ended up leaving their appartment permanently after having to discard much of their recently purchased belongings. There is an easier way Several months ago after searching the internet for safe ways to exterminate the bed bug and possibly a whole line of other insects that invade people's homes and appartments. It took me a while but with some persistance I came accross a product being used in the filtration of fat in deep fryers along with filtering the water of outdoor and indoor pools. The product itself also advertised its ability to kill ants, roaches, fleas, silverfish and earwigs, but there was no mention of its ability to snuff out the pesty beg bug. A couple of days later I called the manufacturer and was told that the substance, DE [diatomaceous earth] would kill this elusive bug. It accomplishes this action through dehydration. I was told that because the DE powder is extremely fine and to wear a mask if I decided to use it for this purpose. Is there a special process that will kill these bugs? Knowing of a kneighbor having a problem with "bed bugs" I decided to try it out. I was going to purchase an empty fine mist spray bottle but after some conversation with the DE manufacturer and being told that this would not work for spraying the DE into the walls at the switch plates and outlets in order to squirt a clout of this fine powder into the walls in order to cover some of the wires. I found that the only thing I could use was an adapted ketchup squirt container also used for mustard. I would first remove the switch or outlet cover plate, tip the almost filled container on its side while plugging the opening with my finger. I pointed the opening at the switch mounting in the wall and abruptly squeesed it. A cloud of the powder was directed into the wall. The plate was replaced and this procedure was repeated with all other switches and outlets throughout every room in the appartment. It took a few days, the package says about a week and the intruders began dissapearing. The cost for a one and a half pound box was about $7.00. It takes some elbow greese but you can't beat the cost. Just do a search for DE [diatomacious earth] and you'll find a few sources. Article Source: |
