Beware of temptations

It's 4 am, and my alarm goes off. I wake up and am about to hit the ‘alarm off' button when I hear a tiny voice whispering into my ear," Forget it John. You can snooze for some more time. Only ten more minutes". And before I know it I have hit the ‘snooze' button and gone back into slumber for another 10 minutes. The alarm goes off again at 4:10 am and I get up to turn it off and to switch the lights on, when I hear that same voice whispering ever so gently, "John, you don't need to exercise today. You did it yesterday already. Your body needs some rest, don't you think so? So what if you look ugly with all the fat around you, you have tomorrow to burn it off, right?" I think, hell yeah! He's right; I have to rest my body today and will exercise tomorrow. And once again, I hit the bed but this time I don't reset the alarm. After a couple of hours I jump out of the bed in shock exclaiming, "Man alive! I am late for work! Again!"

Have you experienced this before? This experience is fresh in my memory because it had happened to me today, again! Jim Rohn once said, "Beware not just of the thief in the neighborhood who is after your purse, but also of the thief in your head who is after your promise". One couldn't put it in better words. This thief exists in all human beings whether a pauper or a king. The difference between success and failure is not the existence of this ‘thief in the mind', but our response to his suggestions. All successful people are aware of this thief and keep their promises locked and secured incase he shows up, whereas a failure doesn't even know when he strikes. This is the same thief that appeared to our Lord Jesus Christ on the mountain and tempted him to give up his promise. Lord Jesus Christ rebuked him instead and shunned him out of the place. That is the way you deal with this thief. Don't show him any mercy. Because he will empty you right out.

The most important lesson that I want you to take out of this incident is this. Be aware at all times of this thief. Only if you are aware will you be able to shun him out.

God Bless.
