How to cope with changes in your business

Over 500 years ago, Christopher Columbus sailed from southern Spain in search of a new world.

Only Columbus believed the world was round compared to the rest of Europe, which believed that the world was flat.

After a year of sailing west, in 1493 Columbus found his new world and proved to the known world that the world was round.

The European were very ecstatic of Columbus discovers right! No! An entire generation died refusing to believe that the world was round.

Why do people resist change?

Mark Twain said of change: "The only people who like change is a wet baby."

  • Some people resist change because of a personal loss.
  • A loss of a job or love one can trigger a resentment to change. The feeling of isolation and vulnerability often accompanies a person when change is about to take place.
  • The fear of losing something is a common response. Paul Valery   said, "Every beginning is a consequence. Every beginning ends something."
  • Some people resist change because of fear. The fear of the unknown is a common response to change.
  • Most people will gravitate to what they are most familiar. This fear to change can cripple a person emotionally and hold them back.
  • For example, one entire generation of Europeans refusal to accept the fact that the world was round.
  • Some people resist change because if feels weird. Some people are uncomfortable about an activity that they are not used to.
  • For example, I felt uncomfortable having to drive on the right side of the car in Europe instead of the left, which I am accustomed to.
In your network or MLM business, some strategies can help to adjust and cope with change.

Change will happen no matter what.

Try to use the change as an opportunity to learn something new. J Wallace Hamilton said, "Every person's life is a diary in which he or she means to write one story and is forced to write yet another."

If you want to have a more profitable business or reach more people to help, requires change. Make a commitment to change and remember there usually is a price to pay either monetarily and or some sort of personal sacrifice.

Allow some of those changes in your live to propel your business beyond what you envisioned and along the way enjoy the ride.
