Unconditional Love Can Save Your Marriage

Men are from Venus and Women are from Mars, or is that the other way round? In any case, it seems that we really do see the world in different ways. Ask most men to describe their perfect relationship and you might be surprised at what you find out. Most men seem to prefer their families, workmates, old friends, even relationships with inanimate items such as their television remote, Lazee-boy, or favorite pair of shoes. To most men , these things feel comfortable, and simple. The relationships they have with these people or things are rewarding and simple to maintain.

Ask a woman though and its a very different picture . When asked identify their ideal relationship, some may answer their pet, say a dog . Their dog, for example may have very simple needs, and it can be the ultimate compliment when they get home at night to be greeted in an enthusiastic fashion. Many of us feel that the love we get from our pets is greater than we get fro our partners . No matter how long we have been away from the house or no matter how our day has been, they are always there when we need them. I call this unconditional love.

So what is unconditional love?

Very simply put 'Unconditional love' is the type of love that comes with no string attached. After the initial passion when you first meet someone has subsided, unconditionallove takes over. After the fluffy romantic love has subsided the next stage is to make the step up to . You accept that your partner is not perfect but you still accept them - that is real love. You know that they are not infallible. But you dont mind that. You still love them. This is unconditional love.

The same thing applies to you however in looking at your partner’s faults. You must accept that you are a human being as well, with the same faults. Nobody is perfect . You know you make mistakes sometimes, but that’s okay. That’s called self-acceptance, and you expect to receive unconditional love to overcome your faults and imperfections that you have.

So what do you get from this then? Should we all go out and get dogs to teach us something about unconditional love? Well, possibly, but I dont think thats a long term solution. Its all too easy to let everyday situations and problems cloud our feelings and vision.

But if saving your marriage is important to you then you need to put the everyday problems to one side and let your unconditional love shine through. It is okay to make mistakes and have flaws for love will conquer them all.

Take time to think about your relationship and come to realize that it may be full of unconditional love, but you just dont see it through the haze of everyday trials and tribulations
