Brain Wave Therapy; How Does It Work?

Brain wave therapy works because people are always looking to try and make some positive changes in their lives. Brain wave therapy takes the basic understanding that the brain controls all other parts of the body and uses this undeniable truth to make brain wave therapy work.

Most scientists and doctors believe that, if the brain is in control is in direct control of all the bodily functions, they can use different combinations of sound frequencies to help cure various ailments and parts of the body. In a way these frequency combinations, called binaural sounds, are training the brain to operate the body more efficiently.

There are only two basic ways to get brain wave therapy, either in patient or out patient.  When using in patient therapy it will normally take place in a hospital or clinic. The patient is given some sort of stimulus, usually consisting of a combination of drugs, neural or visual stimuli and the brain waves are then measured. Depending on the goal that the patient is trying to achieve and the method of therapy used they will either be given positive or negative feedback. That is the way that the brain will learn to perform the proper behavior. This type of therapy is extremely expensive and very few medical insurance plans will cover this cost.

The other option for brain wave therapy is the out patient version. Using this version the patient will, using their own head phones, listen to very specific combinations of sounds and frequencies that will encourage different types of brain waves. The purpose of these sound and frequency combinations is to help the brain communicate better with the rest of the body and promote healthier behaviors. It works by playing a different sound frequency in each ear; the brain will then create its own sound which is a combination of the two frequencies. Certain sounds will stimulate different areas of the brain and result in enabling the brain to function more clearly.

I have found that the out patient version of brain wave therapy will work if you give it a chance. As I said earlier, people are always looking to make some positive changes in their life. People have been known to use brain wave therapy to help them control or even overcome addiction, help them sleep better, or even manage their ADD. None of these forms of therapy are invasive in any way; there is never any surgery or drugs used. All you need are the binaural sound files and a stereo or MP3 player and a set of headphones.
