There are number of mental and %20disorder.aspx" psychiatric disorders . Some of them occur due to controllable and some due to uncontrollable factors. However in each case they affect the normal functioning of the brain. Causes

The factors that lead to any of the above mentioned mental or psychiatric disorders can be broadly categorized as

  1. Environmental
  2. Social
  3. Biological or chemical

Environmental factors like pollution, exposure to radioactivity, a catastrophe, accidents due to natural calamity and various other factors that directly or indirectly impact persons behavior, reaction, judgment, thinking, perception and brain functioning. Social factors have been greatly contributing towards such disorders. Stress and strain at work, in relation, or during the course of normal living may break a person down and jolt the sanity in him. It has been observed that people who are subjected to social factors like these for a long time tend to break easily and give up their defenses to such disorders. Biological factors like inheritance, genetics or birth deformation also contribute towards mental or psychological disorders. Chemical misbalance in person's brain, due to over activity or under activity of glands, incorrect medication, poisoning etc., also lead to such disorders.

Treatment and Medication

It is strongly advised to see a doctor, psychiatrist or psychologist whenever experience or see the associated symptoms in yourself or your loved ones. Feeling low, unnecessarily worried, anxious, strange behavior, headaches, sleep apnea, etc are some of the common factors that are often ignored. Though the symptoms may not be prominent enough to suggest a disorder, the factors behind the symptoms may be a serious threat. Hence it is very important that it be very carefully and clearly examined. It is always better to consult a doctor or psychiatrist as they know things that you may have experienced but may not have realized to be responsible. Also the earlier the disorder is caught the more easily it can be cured or dealt with.
