Success is a Journey with Many Destinations - Rich Dad Poor Dad

"Ever notice that people never say "It's only a game" when they're winning?"- Ivern Ball
I have a confession to make.
My confession is that I am quite "pooh-pooh" on one of more widely accepted success cliche's. I used to not talk about it out of a slight bit of embarrassment, but I no longer care, so I'm going to share my point of view with you.
Now if my way of seeing things works for you, then great! Apply it to your life and use it to help you achieve your goals and dreams. And if it doesn't work for you, that's great, too. Just pretend your never even hear it.
So here goes...
I cringe every time I hear some wildly successful, ultra-rich person say something to the effect of "success is not about the destination, its about the journey", while attempting to keep a Zen expression on their face.
I don't buy it. And how easy and convenient that is to say for someone who has already reached the pinnacle of success and lives a life of wanting nothing that can be acquired with reasonable means?
I can remember back when I was really broke and struggling and I heard that from the stage at a network marketing training event that I was attending. I thought to myself, "don't tell me about this being about the journey when I have no idea how I'm even paying for the $16/day parking at this hotel."
When you break down the most basic meaning of success, it pretty much means to attain a goal. So, by virtue of the fact that you attained something that you set out to attain tells us that you arrived at a destination.
Besides, we aren't motivated by some abstract "journey" that people talk about. We are motivation by the income level that will get us the things that we want.  More time and freedom, more and better options for our kids and families, a dream home, and so on.
So, the next time you hear someone tell you that its "all about the journey", acknowledge the power of the actual process of development that you will go through as you become more successful. Its is amazing and rewarding to reflect on.
At the same time realize that what is really "all about" is you being able to make the impact of the lives of not only yourself but those that you love. Continue to set specific goals, attain them (reach a destination), then set new goals to go after. Focus on developing that habit and all that you desire will be at your finger tips before you know it.
