Mastering Your Mind Power: Training Your Imagination, Part 2

When you were born into this world, you came equipped to navigate this physical existence. You were given five senses, the senses of touch, site, smell, taste, and hearing. You tend to assign value and quality of life to each of the experiences that come to you through one or more of these senses. In fact, you probably only assign your interpretation of reality to experiences that come to you through the physical senses. In other words, if you cannot see, smell, touch, taste or hear it, then to you it is not real.

Nearly all of the beliefs you have formed throughout your entire life have been (and are now) based on whether the experiences that formed the basis of those beliefs came through one or more of your physical senses. As I have stated before, the sum total of your beliefs forms your self image. It is from the vast reservoir of subconscious beliefs that images are consistently fed into your imagination.

Your self image, over time (and by using your submerged beliefs), gradually takes control of how you feel about your capabilities and all of the many things you feel are true about yourself. Since most of the beliefs that make up your self image are out of range of conscious recall, is it any wonder that you and so many of us feel almost helpless when it comes to bringing conscious change into our lives?

Your imagination holds the key with which you can unlock the chains of negative automatic beliefs and negative automatic reactions to your daily experiences that have been forged by your self image. You must help your imagination, however, by training it to accept images, thoughts, and emotions that are in harmony with what you desire to experience. The process is simple and easy, but I must warn you that anything that is easy to do is also easy not to do.

You must first establish a definite major goal (or goals). Definiteness cannot be overstated. Napoleon Hill, author of Think And Grow Rich, states that you should have a burning desire to achieve your definite goal or goals. Your goal or goals should be something that truly excites you, something that you can commit to sticking with until you accomplish it, and something that will sustain you during the times you see no physical evidence that your goal (or goals) is coming to fruition.

When training your imagination to entertain pursuits of your choosing, you will need a method that will present and hold your goals in your imagination for longer periods of time. More importantly, you will need a method that will help you keep your imagination free of the things you do not want for much longer periods of time. You will also need to spend more time analyzing want kinds of thoughts, ideas, and images you consistently observe in your imagination.

All it takes to help keep the thoughts and images of things you do not want from camping in your imagination is a loose fitting rubber band and a commitment to use it. Anytime an unwanted thought, idea, or image is observed, a quick snap on the wrist with the rubber band, will instantly stop all thought temporarily and direct your attention to the sting on your wrist. Seize the moment and immediately bring thoughts, images, or representations of your goals into your imagination and hold them there as long as time will allow. Repeat this process whenever you notice unwanted thoughts, images, etc., in your imagination.

This I know for sure. You can claim or reclaim control of your own mind power. You are the most miraculous of all living beings on earth. You are the owner of a mind that is so stupendous, that as you truly begin mastering your mind power and consciously using it, there is no dream that you can dream that you cannot achieve.
