The Power of Affirmations

Negative thoughts have probably been drummed into your head. Negativity from others, including parents and friends, as well as from yourself pertaining to the codependent relationship you have or had been in. You will want to trade those negative thoughts for positive thoughts. What you focus on will be your reality, just as what you fear you create is a truth. The power to train your thoughts to focus on the positive is within each of us. If you want to change your reality, change your beliefs.

Start with something small. An affirmation pertaining to health, spirituality to self-esteem will help you focus on the good that you want to create. That alone will help manifest positive thoughts into your life. Focusing on the positive message done in the affirmation several times a day will not only help you feel better by lightening your spirits, but it will help you concentrate on encouraging messages rather than negative. You will start to believe that not only do you deserve the good that you are focusing on, but also that it will come to you as you open and clear the way for the good. Negative thoughts may arise at first, but part of the affirmation process is to write down those thoughts to help clear out the old and build the new. Be patient with yourself and do not quit. Be assured that it will get easier.

Once you learn how to be your own best friend and be accepting of yourself, you can learn to be that way toward others. You must love yourself and feel safe within yourself before you enable yourself to treat others the same way.

You can create the world you live in. It all starts with your belief system. You must find ways to disprove old beliefs and substitute it with the opposite – with the positive. Don’t try to force thoughts with mental willpower. Look within your heart to what you’ve believed in the past and look at your life and where that belief has led you. Pose questions to your old belief system. Is there an illusion to what you have believed and to where it led you? If that is not where you want to be, look at new beliefs and imagine where they will lead you. Believe in your heart that new success will come and that it will lead you to a better place. New solutions and new conclusions will follow.

Affirmations are not there for you to ignore the problems that may arise. They are help for you to get past the old habits you have that focus your attention on the bad. It helps to act as if the affirmation already has taken place. Keep the positive firmly in mind and act lovingly toward yourself. Surround yourself with caring people and friends. And be grateful for the things you already have and the things that may not have manifest in your life yet. Be as thankful for them as you will be when they do manifest in your life.

You must be disciplined when it comes to the affirmation process. It will be easy to give up. But once you see your thoughts be more positive and good manifest in your life, you will be glad you kept with it. Write down your goals. Think about them and the good you wish to see daily. Read meditation books. Become aware of what you are giving power to. If it’s not positive and what you want, change those thoughts so you can create the life you want.
