Healthier and More Beautiful-Natural Cosmetics

I made the choice long ago to switch to an organic diet. Overall, I have felt wonderful as a result of switching to whole organic food. I had many stomach issues that have since disappeared, my skin looks better, and I sleep better and have more energy during the day because my body is getting the nourishment it needs! I've changed my diet, now I need to change my beauty products. Author and health expert Jordan Rubin made a good argument when he stated that you shouldn't put anything on your face that you can't eat. I've tested out a few natural products so far and I must say that the switch has been more than a challenge.

I'm 35 years old, so I'm not a spring chicken and although I look decent for my age, I still have a few flaws that need to be adjusted before I leave the house. I haven't gone out without wearing makeup since I was about 16 or 17 years old and was sunburned! I wouldn't call myself high maintenance; I just like to look good! I would love to get my skin and hair healthy and glowing enough to shower and go but to help me along the way, there must be beauty products out there that aren't packed with chemicals!

Wearing makeup that is filled with chemical ingredients defeats the purpose of wearing it in the first place. We wear makeup to look good but what it is really doing is slowly making us look worse. We put on makeup as a temporary fix to cover our flaws but what many people don't realize is how harmful these products are to the skin and body.  Why should we pay money to use a product that could make us ill in the long run?

We don't bother to read the ingredients because we would need a degree in chemistry to understand what we're putting on our face, not to mention we really don't want to know. What would you do if you found out that your makeup is toxic? You might shrug it off because you are not seeing any skin or health problems, but what if the damage that we are doing to ourselves manifests over time? We don't know how to change the products that we use to a natural alternative, we assume they will not be as effective and we procrastinate conducting research on the subject because it's not going to affect us today. The truth is, these products could have a negative effect when used daily over a long period of time.
