Dieting? - Here's How to Handle Food Cravings

If someone asked you what foods you have cravings for, most likely they would not be healthy choices. In fact most of the foods that people crave... ice cream, potato chips, pizza etc... aren't healthy. I'm sure if you think about the foods that you personally crave, very few of them are healthy. Correct? Well in this article I will show you how you can crave healthy foods by changing the way you think.

Almost everyone has a craving for some type of food and many consider it a problem. It may not be a problem though. It may in fact be a solution. People give too much power to their cravings. The truth is that we don't need to be controlled by them. We don't have to feel tempted by the ice cream, pizza and potato chips. What if you were tempted by watermelon, grapes or apples? Wouldn't that be awesome? Well it isn't that crazy of an idea!

If most people who are overweight told you about what they ate and how they ate, you'd get some similar answers. A good part of their weight problems can be boiled down to picking, snacking, eating the wrong foods and simply eating too much. Also if you asked what they're favorite fruits and vegetables are you'd probably find out that they don't like too many fruits and vegetables or like them prepared in a bad way. For example deep fried vegetables with lots of cheese. Finally many overweight people eat fruits and vegetables a lot less than they eat the unhealthy foods.

If you'd like to crave more fruits and vegetables, get in a comfortable spot and close your eyes. Think of the most peaceful scene you can think of and start to relax more than you ever have before. Once you are fully relaxed, start thinking about your favorite fruits and vegetables. Imagine taking a bite of a big sweet juicy peach and feel the juices tickle your taste buds. Say to yourself "I crave fruits and vegetables." If you repeat this often enough you will crave fruits and vegetables. Why? When you enter a relaxed state anything you imagine or repeat to yourself often enough will enter your subconscious. This part of your mind controls your cravings.

Cravings don't have to be something to be feared. By thinking the right thoughts you will crave the right types of food. Just like there are good and bad habits, you can crave the right types of food.
