15 years old and breast enlargement

15 year old Jenna Franklin caused a stir when she suggested that she is getting a boob job for her 16th birthday from her parents.  Her parents who own a plastic surgery business, Grosvenor House agreed to pay the £3,250 for the operation if the surgeon agreed that she was developed enough.  Jenna’s birthday wish however, did not come true as their surgeon refused to operate saying that she is too young and will have to wait until her 18th birthday.*

Jenna says: “I just want to be happy with my body and I think having my breasts enlarged will give me more self-confidence."*

Many young girls want bigger breasts as they look at all the celebrities that have and think that will also make their lives better.  However, it is unusual to have support from your parents or to have parents willing to fund the operation.  What most parents, I hope would say to their daughter wishing for breast surgery is that “you are beautiful as you are” and “inner beauty is what counts.”  And what I would say is: “don’t harm your body and your finances with surgery” instead “buy breast enhancers or chicken fillets from .”

Jenna’s reason for the surgery was that she believed it would increase her self confidence, but how many young teenagers are confident with their bodies?  If I remember back to those school days my girl friends and I were either worried about being too fat, too spotty, too short, too flat, too big and the list goes on.  Insecurity about your body is all part of growing up.  I was teased for being too flat, having pancakes and being an ironing board but at least I could run.  For any other young teenagers considering boob jobs, your boobs are likely to get bigger as you get older and even if they do not you can still be beautiful.  Kate Moss is a living example of this, not only is she famous as one of the UK’s most beautiful women, she has also made a fortune out of it.
