First Trimester Pregnancy Symptoms to Watch forThe first trimester of the pregnancy refers to the first 12 weeks. Even before you find out for sure that you are going to have a baby, there are first trimester pregnancy symptoms that can tell the tale. Even though the most telling symptom is that you miss your menstrual period, you will likely notice that your breasts are feeling quite tender. You may also notice that they are starting to get bigger. One thing you will notice is that you have to visit the bathroom quite often. This is because your uterus is starting to enlarge and is pressing on the bladder. The first months of pregnancy are very trying ones for both the mom and dad to be because your emotions will be like a roller coaster. You will find that the least little thing makes you cry, especially if someone seems to speak harshly to you, even if it is unintentional. You may feel extremely tired and have to take naps. Frequent headaches are also symptoms of pregnancy and this may have you worried if you have never been prone to headaches. During the first four weeks of pregnancy, you will probably not yet realize that you are pregnant. Even if you suspect that you are, you may have to take several pregnancy tests before you are far enough along for it to show up in the tests. At this time the baby is only about the size of a dime, but the arms and legs are growing. There is a head, eyes, nose and mouth, but since the baby is so tiny, it is unlikely that this would show up on an ultrasound. It is during the second month of pregnancy that nausea starts to occur. For most women this manifests itself in the morning, which is why it is called morning sickness. However, it can occur at any time of the day. For most women, this sickness lasts for a very short time, while others do experience it throughout the whole pregnancy. Your body will be producing more hormones than normal because of the baby. For this reason, you may have an outbreak of acne and find it hard to control. Your hair may also be a problem. Some women report that they could not do anything with their hair during this time and some have reported that they notice some of their hair starting to fall out. These conditions are temporary and everything will go back to normal once your body adjusts to the fact that you are pregnant. The third month of pregnancy is the time when others start to notice your growing belly. You will find that your slacks and skirts no longer fit as comfortably around the waist as they once did and you have to start shopping for pants with elastic waists. You may also find that your feet hurt a lot more if you are standing a lot during the day and you have to shop for more comfortable footwear. |
