Evaporation Lines on Pregnancy Tests

You are holding your pregnancy test in your hands and surprise it shows two lines! This means you are pregnant, right? Well, not always, especially if the second line is more of a shadow then an actual line. This could also be mistaken for a evaporation line.

There are several reasons for your pregnancy tests to not read correctly. The first reason is that you took the test to soon. It is generally a good idea to wait until you are actually late for your period then to take the test before your due date. This way, you will have enough hCG in your urine for the pregnancy test to detect pregnancy although some women do test prior to getting there period, it is usually a good idea to wait until after you are due.

Another reason your test may give you incomplete results is that the test wasn’t strong enough. Certain tests are more sensitive then others in picking up the hCG hormone which is the hormone which is secreted after the embryo attaches to the uterine wall of the newly formed placenta.

A more common reason is reading the test after the given time limit. Follow the instructions, and read within the given time limit of the tests. The second line could be very well your urine sitting to long in the test, therefore given the image of a second line.

If you suspect you maybe pregnant and you have a positive pregnancy test, remember to make an appointment with your physician who be able to help you prepare to have a happy and healthy next 9 months!
