The generally knownSpiltPersonalitydisorder is actually termed asMultiple Personality Disorder(MPD) orDissociative Identity Disorder(DID).Is getting very common in the present time. Research shows that the disorder is mostly found in U.S which 10% of the population. The disorder is not new for us now as most of us know about it due to several cases we came across with and through media also infact, the historical reviews show that the problem was first reported in early 19th century and was successfully diagnosed in 1980 by the psychiatrists.

The disorder occurs due to child trauma, overwhelming stress, dissociative capacity, including the ability to uncouple one's memories, perceptions, or identity from conscious awareness, the enlistment of steps in normal developmental processes as defenses, and, during childhood, the lack of sufficient nurturing and compassion in response to hurtful experiences or lack of protection are some causes of the disorder development in the victims psychic. Thechief symptomof dissociative identity disorder (DID) is the presence of multiple personalities, each of which controls the patient's behavior at one time. Typically a patient's primary identity has the person's own given name and is passive, dependent, guilty and depressed. Meanwhile, other personalities - or alters - that surface at different times are more likely to be hostile, controlling and self-destructive. The disorder has a wide range of reasons of occurrence and growth as well. The person suffering through the disorder behaves in unexpected manners when an alter ego takes over. The range of symptoms is also quiet wide on the other hand.
