Wealth, Happiness And Personality

Dr. Hasan A. Yahya, a professor of philosophy

Human personality differs according to the personal qualities.  A pre-Christ birth fable says: A stingy merchant, to make sure of his property and wealth , sold all that he had and converted it into a great lump of gold, which he hid in a hole in the room floor. He was looking everyday at the gold in order to be sure, of security. One day, a neighbor discovered the secret of the gold. He was thinking that there should be a treasure hidden there. He began to watch the merchant absence far away from home , when he has the chance, he entered the house and began to uncover the hole in the floor, he was happy to find the big golden square, he polled it, put it in a basket, and fled the place away.

The merchant returned, and checked his gold. He found the hole empty . He began to cry loud and pull his hair, and clap his face with his both hands, all his life savings were vanished. A neighbor saw him in his nasty grief, asked him. When he got the answer about the whole story, he told him:

"Stop crying , I have a solution for you? "

" really, what is it?" said the merchant.

"Take a stone and put it in the same place, And think that it is that peace of gold; and you will feel good, because you never meant to use it. That will give you satisfaction.

This concludes the wisdom saying: The worth of money is not in its possession, but in its use.

What do you learn ?

Happiness all over the world is not a product of money. However, money is important in life, but it should be used, in the American saying,  if the dollar keeps rolling, economy prospers, therefore keeping money without utilization is useless. In the same time using money foolishly, is not warrant, wisdom of this tales, that money and gold, and for that matter, some stocks are valued as pieces of stones.

Kids have to know this early in their lives, to use money for the necessary basic needs in life, if some money remains, it has to be used wisely to benefit oneself or others. Charity may be is one of them, but for human purposes. We hear sometimes, that someone donated his wealth to take care of certain dog. However, dogs are animals, but we have to think of other people in faraway lands who suffer of lack of after, food, and medicine. Other waist money, to buy something to hang on walls, what is the human value of these things if not used to benefit others.   The famous and rich people have no sense of value other than appearance. To look like somebody else. Some of them had no sense of gathering valuable things without using them. Others look around, reevaluate their possessions, and provide the necessary needs with funds.
