Liars are either too detailed or lack detail. They will focus on details more than they normally would when talking, with the expectation that the person they are lying to will get so wrapped up in all of the details that they will either forget what the lie is about or become convinced that it is the truth. They speak slowly when trying to explain him self and will use longer words as if trying to buy time. They may also ask you to repeat your question more than once to have more time to organize their thoughts and cover up the truth.

Liars perspire profusely, and they stutter and stammer. They stumble over words a lot. You may also notice too much pauses and dead airs when trying to talk to someone who is obviously lying. Some liars even pause to swallow as if subconsciously stalling for time. When a liar is caught off guard, they require time to formulate a response that sounds legitimate.

You can also detect liars by observing their behavior. Liars have a difficult time establishing eye contact. They tend to look away or even stare at the floor when conversing. They may either be stiff or fidgety. Their actions could be limited or they may make unnecessary gestures which make them appear restless and nervous. Most liars would scratch their nose or reach behind their ear almost all the time, or constantly touch their face, mouth, and throat.

Everyone has told a lie or two in their life, and everyone is also capable of detecting lies from the truth.
