The coast is clear, the seas are calm, the sailing is breezy, and you are ready to move into new territory. The serenade is waiting for you.
What are the keys to your kingdom? If you have misplaced the keys, misjudged the day, there are still opportunities at bay and in those latter days. Every light from here can be green. You could captivate and capture the affections of more than one audience. You might find that new unique blend as you reassemble on the new territories. Enlighten your self-interests towards there greater good.
Each territory has its unique discoveries. Where are we going as we prospect for gold? We have our assumptions but they are only more or less accurate. There was an assumed landscape to the moon but we weren\'t sure until we got there. We can be looking for a further extension of our abilities, interests and our positive outlooks as we lookout for something new as well as the complete unknown or the surprise. We want to hit the main territory but there could be others.
Before we go forward into these territories we will discuss 4 keys to the Kingdom. I had played a game of monopoly that lasted from 4 in the afternoon until 4 in the morning. I had gotten ownership of Park Place and Broadway at about 4 A.M. in the morning, just about locking up my win in this game. I was so proud of my efforts. My last rival for the win, my cousin Maurice, took the board and threw it on the front lawn at 4 in the morning. I couldn?t savor a look at the board I had worked all afternoon and into the night for. I had finally gotten both Park Place and Broadway.
The first key is to determine if you are involved in a monopoly and if you are whether this monopoly serves you and your kingdom. When we think of a monopoly, we think of Standard Oil and John D. Rockefeller. But there are monopolies that we can acquire on a more personal level. We can monopolize on a style, approach or way of thinking which leaves us maybe in a good place but in the same place where I might be standing still in relation to some passing opportunities. I could be stashing everything in one place. Then we could begin to be negative and let those negative thoughts occupy the whole of our kingdom. And how far can we ride with the negativity? You can ride a positive wave further all things being equal. Or maybe we have been involved in a way of doing things for so long that we have rubber stamped it on the future and rubber stamped ourselves out the other territories which can still be traveled. And example is someone who is studying and the study time creeps forward and forward until all this person?s time is monopolized by this course of study, leaving other territories of the kingdom untended or untaken. Good hobbies and pursuits can form into monopolies and although this might not be bad, you need to be aware that you are playing the game of monopoly and you can also lose in this game.
Anything we center on can become a monopoly. I hope to go to Paris, but those exclusive hopes are dashed with the turn of events. I might be so disappointed that I rebel and decide I will not attempt to travel anywhere again. Ultimately, I encounter a rebellion.
People talk about getting a career or job with upward mobility. But there is also the mobility of the population to consider. The many approaches and ideas that I have accumulated formed into a population of ideas within the monopoly. They might lack the mobility to navigate further. I have a mote around the castle of my ideas. These ideas got me along for a while, but now they might lack some of their prior mobility. I might become immobilized to new territory, which is found outside of the monopoly.
What happens also is that I put some of my more pronounced ideas and approaches on automatic pilot. A monopoly can result in a widespread rebellion, Especially, when there are losers within the monopoly. Hit that iceberg hard enough and it will break up. Just like my cousin who had basically lost the game of monopoly and threw the board and its pieces out on the lawn after 12 hours of playing the game. The rebellion I encounter could also be within myself. I have a backlash against what I previously enjoyed when it becomes more obsessive and I lose my balance and have the perception of loss. This is monopolizing my time and the monopoly is crowding out other things.
I spoke to a friend who hadn\'t read a book since college. My take is that he felt he had to read these books to do well in school, which he did, but it monopolized his time in college, and he since rebelled against reading books for any reason.
Then within the monopoly I might put ideas and approaches on automatic pilot. I don?t have to do the hard thinking on them any more. In fact you can often look at what you have on automatic pilot and trace back to your monopoly not only in its expanse and extent but also possibly in its origins and formations. But the mistake is then that I might put many things on automatic pilot and I don\'t take things off automatic pilot when I should, or I pick the wrong ideas and wrong variables to go on automatic pilot with. Even within the monopoly I don\'t keep a monitor on the automatic pilots, as to when they should be back to pilot. I could go on automatic pilot with a bad idea or belief that leads me into the galleys and lots of trouble. Misguided or bad beliefs operating on automatic pilot can be especially onerous. At some point you know you\'re sunk. I can?t get further down the coast that way. One of the dangers also is the unexpected abrupt ending to the monopoly. I had just about everything on automatic pilot and suddenly nothing is going further that way. What do I do now? I haven\'t been navigating my ship myself so I have to learn to sail again. I also might have missed opportunities in new territory because the automatic piloting didn\'t pick up these opportunities. I wasn\'t patrolling the waters of new opportunity. Then how do I do I pick and choose what to leave alone and put on automatic pilot and what I need to continually pilot myself. The monopoly might get me a lot of territory on the first go around but it can limit my pursuit of the further territory down the coast.
How do I get to a monopoly as an individual? One thought could lead to a monopoly. I follow the ring right out of the rosy. The way this can happen is I go from one isolated or stand alone thought, which is then put on automatic pilot, which then forms into a monopoly, which keeps me out of other possible territories. An example is this. I am Irish and I have the thought I will only date girls who speak both Italian and English and have Italian descent. I put this thought on automatic pilot. Any girl who expresses interest who doesn\'t fit the criteria of this thought is not considered as a possible date. Lot\'s of territory as far as who could be interested in me for a date is not being considered. I ride right past those opportunities to my monopoly because I have one thought that I left on automatic pilot. As far as any further review, analysis, or consideration, I\'m finished.
A goal could form into a monopoly for an individual. I have a goal that I believe I should have a singular focus on. What happens is that I put other opportunities on hold until I get my goal. I don\'t keep my goal on a side-by-side basis with other possibilities. An example is, I will not travel for leisure until I have 100,000 dollars in the bank. That goal becomes a monopoly as I pursue this number and don\'t consider travel opportunities that I might have had. In the meantime, I may indeed have discovered ideas or opportunities within my travels had I gone that related to my goal of the 100,000 dollar bank account.
An event can lead to a monopoly. For example, I go to the baseball game and I get rained on, the fan next to me was unruly towards my company and then I go to the parking lot after the game and find my car is stolen. I say from this sporting event I will never go to a baseball game again. So I have formed a monopoly. I will stay away for good and those additional upcoming territories of the new games will never be explored.
A premise can form into a monopoly. An example of this is the premise that I should work hard. I check my premise and find out I\'m working hard so it\'s okay to stay in the territory I\'m in. But maybe I should be working hard at something else or somewhere else. I could be farming with all diligence on the wrong land or planting the wrong crop for the land. Or maybe I\'m working hard at a job that doesn\'t incorporate my strong points.
An emotion can form into a monopoly. I am afraid of this situation and this fear occupies me to such an extent that I do not consider what the further or additional opportunities might be. I am so occupied with my fear that I only see the situation through that prism and I never get the view of the opportunities. . The one emotion dominates and I can\'t seem to muster anything else towards the territory. I can be so occupied with my passion for something that I don\'t see some real dangers that should be considered. For example, I have a passion for surfing. I am so excited about the waves today that I don\'t seem to notice the fins gliding by of those great sharks.
I might be hiding behind something, which is put into a monopoly. For example I am with people but I hide behind my cell phone and I don\'t talk to the people who are physically present.
Another way we form monopolies is that we make up rules. I make up a rule that I\'ll always sleep late on Sundays. I\'ll never get an early hike in on Sunday morning because of this monopoly.
If we choose to position ourselves in a monopoly, even a good monopoly, we tend to only look for our pointers we have established within the monopoly. But there are other pointers outside of the monopoly that could have been considered and indeed we might not even get any pointers because the new territory will not divulge its secrets unless we get there.
All that I am able to do is not found in the monopoly I have created. I have enablers that exist outside of this monopoly. Neither all my enablers nor all my pointers are found in this monopoly. And reversing the formation of the monopoly, all my pointers and enablers are not in the automatic pilot, or in the one thought I have wholly subscribed to.
I may have a good drive towards what I have established as a monopoly. Maybe even the one thought is driving me. However, I can find other drivers outside of my monopoly. If I can have strong drive towards one thing or area, I could potentially have this same strong drive towards something else. All the drivers I could potentially have are not found only in what is most immediate. A mistake might be thinking that this alone drives me when some I could have that same good drive for something new and unfamiliar.
And then the monopoly may come under a shift in the paradigm and begin to break up. Then I might be in more trouble not doing anything than by doing something. The model I was following has outright disintegrated.
The second key is what you can establish within the kingdom can be established over more than one territory. Charlton Heston is a great actor. He established that in the movie Ben Hur. But there are other movies that he could have established that he was a great actor in if that territory of that particular movie had been traveled. Someone with a good jump shot can establish that ability in more than one game and with more than one team. Someone who has a good personality or a good line of conversation can establish that in more than one setting, there are other territories that can hold this trait if a given territory falters. I can establish my enjoyment of reading, my fondness of the movies over the territories of several or numerous books and many movies. So the key word here is to establish. If you truly want something, you can establish that with more than one territory. You want a family; you could potentially establish that with another person if your girlfriend or boyfriend leaves you.
I can establish my love of music with more than one artist and more than one song. I can also play my own songs and establish myself that way. I can establish my enjoyment of art in more than one museum and I can also sculpt or paint a picture myself. I can establish that I\'m photogenic in more than one picture.
Sometimes we can establish something quite quickly. It doesn\'t always have to be at a snails pace. In the area of romance there could be love at first site or first chat. Or two dates in and your on the in. I can quickly establish my jump shot in a game. I can quickly establish my interest in this novel.
Other times it may take days, months or years to establish yourself in a territory. It might take a year to shoot a movie.
If I can get the view I want here, I might establish that view further down the coast. The 3rd key to the kingdom is the idea of referencing. Each territory will have its own dynamics. And this is the absolute key word, referencing. When we go into new and previously unknown or lightly traveled territories we always tend to reference. We know that each territory will have its own dynamics but we always tend to reference as we go forward into new territory. . Why not reference in a more advantageous way. We are either referencing the new trails so we can find the markers and our way back if we want to and we are referencing prior memories and experiences in some fashion and applying it to the new territory. The key is to first be aware that you are doing this and try to do this in a more positive fashion or at least in a more objective fashion rather than continually and subjectively bringing the negative forward only in our references.
Somebody starts to hike up Mount Everest. They will start their hike while maybe referencing to their prior training, their ability to walk well in many conditions, their prior hikes and climbs and evidences of endurance. As we reference into the new territory, we need to try to bring in all the good references we can to encourage ourselves as we go further and forward. We can go further back in time if we have to reference the positive. I can reference the good day I had ten years ago. Why not?
All our references don?t have to be on the sunny side of course because there can also be valid warning of impending difficulties that should be referenced. When we reference our trip to the top of Mount Everest, we can also prepare for the difficulties we might realistically encounter.
I go into the library of Congress and I begin to reference some of the books there. I am presently capable of reading just about any book in the library. However, I can\'t at this time reference every book in the library. I can only selectively reference some books. I have to make some sort of selection as I begin to reference.
I am at the foul line of an important basketball game. I have ten seconds to take the foul shot. I can reference the 3 foul shots I just missed prior, the ten I made in the first half of the game, or the 9 out of 10 I made in practice before the last game. I can reference my opposite hand dunk in the traffic on the previous play. Or reference any of my many prior experiences in shooting from the foul line. Or I can reference from my imagined future when I finally make those key foul shots. But you can\'t deluge your mind with every possible detail all at once, which is why you are selectively referencing. I can\'t inundate my thought process with all these references in the 10 seconds I have before this attempt. I can only reference what I can in the given time frame. What do I select as my reference? I can make a disassociated reference. I can look at the cheerleader while I contemplate the foul shot. I can think about the days when I was running in the Artic and at least now I am in a warm gym. But I can?t reference everything in my life to this attempt. I have to make a quick selection.
Any selection I make even if I do have plenty of time is subject to a time element. Do people book a vacation for 10 years from now? You are subject to a time frame in your selections even if it\'s for years. Then maybe I don\'t have a longer time frame. I go to the track and I want to view the horses in the paddock right before the races. I only have a matter of minutes to make my bets from there.
A key is to see why we are selecting what we are as we reference into the new territories. By selecting mostly negative references we can impede our own pathways. That negativity forms into a stampede against our own interests and views, which tends to keep us out of the game, we wanted to play in the first place. We have a propensity to be very selective in our references. The negative references we select in our referencing predominantly lack mobility. What you reference could be part of the nourishment and nurturing you provide for the new territory so consider the idea of holding off on giving yourself a bad reference if you really do want to get further down the coast.
You can be more imaginative in your referencing. You can reference some hoped for future scenarios back into the present. Think about the serene and wondrous coastlines that might be ahead.
Reference you\'re imagined future back over those now unclimbed mountains of the future and back into the present. Trace your future hopes back to the present and see what the trail was.
Assume you have made some mistakes in your referencing. Look for example at the headlines in the papers. They have made some mistakes in their headlines. A newspaper had the Beatles are back as a headline for the whole week but they never did get back together again, and the hoped for reunion never actually happened. We have probably also made some mistakes in picking the headlines for our own lives when something else might have been a better pick for our own headline material. I might have made something my personal headline when something else was far more important to me in retrospect.
A girl goes out on a date with someone new. She references her appearance in the mirror. Why not reference in that scenario as many of the positives as she can. She can reference many of her good attributes. She will feel better as she goes into that new territory or similar territories.
In so many ways, however small we are referencing. Let?s reference in a way that is to our advantage.
The 4th key is that we can reassemble the myriad of our interests in new territories. The key word here is reassembling. We don\'t lack the necessary parts, we just need to piece them together properly in this new territory.
Two people meet on a stretch of coast. On this stretch where they are meeting for the first time, they talk of there prior travels along their respective coastlines and talk of success and or storms and shipwrecks. But what might happen is they could focus on the shipwrecks, and bring these shipwrecks into the present scene on this stretch of coast where they are meeting for the first time and hinder an effort to potentially assemble their interests in this stretch of coast. Then maybe what might have been on opportunity gets away from them as they sail off in different directions.
We have unique qualities as well as common qualities, both of which are usable in the new territory and can stand out.
We can assign those qualities and secure our masts for these qualities in the new territory. We just need to assemble them properly and bring them into fruition right past the concierge and into the new territory. It may have been only negativity that held you back. Whatever your Humpty Dumpy is or was, maybe you can put it back together again in the new territories. You might get your best assembly yet in the new territory. The ensemble is your best yet. Add some altruism towards your own good qualities by seeking new territories in which they can be brought fortth.
