The electronic cigarette is a fantastic invention that is the closest thing to real smoking.  It allows the smoker to draw on a realistic looking cigarette and vapour is produced that actually looks like cigarette smoke and that gives a throat-hit similar to that of a traditional cigarette.

Many smokers find it hard to stop smoking and will probably have tried lots of products to try to aid cutting down smoking or quitting altogether.  The electronic cigarette offers an alternative to smoking that feels and looks like the real thing so the smoker doesn't feel like they are missing the physical, tactile feel of a cigarette.

The e cigarette consists of a battery and an atomiser that holds a small cartridge that contains the e liquid fluid.  The electronic cigarette uses the small lithium battery to atomise the liquid solution contained in the refill cartridge. This liquid contains propylene glycol (dry ice), nicotine, glycerin, water and flavourings.  The propylene glycol is the ingredient that produces the vapour when the electronic cigarette is inhaled.  The nicotine content of the cartridge is available in High, Medium, Low and Zero strength so that the smoker can regulate their nicotine intake down over time if required.

One disposable refill cartridge will last the equivalent of approximately 10 cigarettes before needing to be replaced with a new cartridge.  The vapour volume reduces gradually to nothing to indicate that the liquid in the cartridge has run out.

The electronic cigarette also tastes like the real thing with cigarette flavoured refills being the most popular.  There are also options of menthol and other flavours such as cherry, vanilla, apple and strawberry for the more adventurous. All flavours have a background flavour of cigarette with a hint of the secondary flavour.

The electronic cigarette has many benefits.  It is much healthier than traditional smoking as the e cig does not contain tar, carbon monoxide and the thousands of other harmful chemicals contained in a cigarette.  Electronic smoking is also a much cheaper option; the average 20 a day smoker can save around £2,000 a year.

It is legal to smoke the electronic cigarette anywhere and another major benefit is being able to smoke it at home without your home smelling of dirty ashtrays and lingering smells on curtains and upholstery.  It also eradicates the smell of smoke on your hair, breath and clothes.  Traditional smoking is also bad for your skin and stains your teeth which electronic cigarettes do not.  You are also not subjecting people around you to passive smoking by using the e cig.  The vapour produced by an electronic cigarette is virtually odourless and dissipates very quickly.
