God in Bible versus Allah in Quran-1

God in Bible versus Allah in Quran-1

The Bible discloses the word of the LORD God that came to the Prophet Hosea.

The LORD God said to him, "Go, and take to yourself an adulterous wife and children of unfaithfulness.

The LORD God commanded Hosea to take an adulterous wife, because the land is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the LORD.

Hosea obeyed the LORD God and married an adulterous woman; and she conceived and bore him a son.

Then the LORD said to Hosea, "Call him Jezreel, because I will soon punish the house of Jehu for the massacre at Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel. And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.

The adulterous wife of Hosea conceived again and bore a daughter.

And the LORD said to him, "Call her name Lo-Ruhamah (it means No Mercy) for I will no more have mercy on the house of Israel, to forgive them at all; I will no longer show love to the house of Israel.

God prefers Judah and rejects Israel

Then the LORD said: yet I will show love to the house of Judah; and I will save them—not by bow, sword or battle, or by horses and horsemen, but by the LORD their God.

When the adulterous wife of Hosea had weaned Lo-ruhamah, her No Mercy daughter, she conceived, and bare a son.

Then the LORD said, "Call him (the new born boy) Lo-Ammi (it means Not My People), for you are not my people, and I am not your God.

Then, all of a sudden, the Lord God has changed his mind and said: "Yet the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore, which cannot be measured or counted. In the place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' they will be called ' the sons of the living God.'

And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together and reunited, and they shall appoint themselves one head, and shall go up from the land; for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

In the Quran,

In Verse 16:90, Allah commands three Moral things and forbids three immoral things.

On the other hand, Verse 49:13 banned any form of Racism

In addition, Verse 50:29 states that Allah does not change his words.

In Verse 16:90,

Allah commands three Moral things and forbids three immoral things.

Allah commands three Moral things:

1)    Justice,

2)    The doing of good, and

3)    Kindness to the kindred i.e. keeping ties with one's kinsfolk.

Allah forbids three immoral things:

1)     injustice

2)    all shameful deeds

3)    rebellion

The verse says that Allah instructs you, that you may receive admonition.

He forbids you from engaging in lewdness, abomination and wickedness in order that you take admonition from the parable of the Quran.

That is why it is said that this verse is the most comprehensive verse in the Quran in terms of what is good and what is evil.

On the other hand, Verse 49:13 banned any form of Racism

The background of the verse:

On the day Mecca was conquered, the Prophet Muhammad ordered Bilal, a poor black man, to climb on the roof of the Ka'bah and perform the call to prayer. It was a great honor for Bilal.

A group of noble Arabs mocked Bilal.

A man said: 'I Praise Allah that my father died before he did not see this day'.

Another man said: 'Did Muhammad not find any other caller to prayer except this black raven?'

A third person said: 'How can this black Ethiopian slave be allowed to perform the call to prayer on top of the Ka'bah?'

The Angel Gabriel went to the Prophet, and informed him about what they said.

The Prophet summoned them and asked them about what they said and they admitted it.

The Prophet Muhammad said: 'Well, you are not better than anyone unless it be through the good practice of religion and the fear of God.

Allah then revealed this verse warning them against boasting about their lineages and abundance of wealth and against looking down on the poor".

In Verse 49:13, Allah said:

O mankind! Lo! We have created you a male and a female (Adam and Eve) and we have made you nations and tribes that you may know one another. Lo! The noblest of you in the Hereafter, The noblest of you in the sight of Allah on the Day of Judgment, is the best in conduct in the life of the world; which in this case is Bilal.

Lo! Allah is the Knower of your status and lineage, and He is the Aware of your works and standing in His sight.

In other words, Allah has created human being from Adam and Eve, and made them nations which is the broadest category of lineage and tribes which are smaller than nations so that man may acquire knowledge of the cultures of one another and not to boast to one another, for pride lies only in the extent to which man has fear of God. Truly the noblest of you in the sight of God is the most God-fearing among you.

Truly Allah is Knower of you and Aware of your inner thoughts.

In addition, Verse 50:29 states that Allah does not change his words.

In this verse, Allah says: The word that comes from Me cannot be changed.

That is, 'What is within My prior knowledge does not change, so that it would become contrary to My pre-existing knowledge concerning it.

And I am in nowise a tyrant unto the servants such that I would punish them in the Hereafter without them having committed a crime.

Also, it should be emphasized that Hosea, Beeri, Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, Judah, Jeroboam, Jehoash, Gomer, Diblaim, Jezreel, the house of Jehu, Lo-Ruhamah (No Mercy girl) and the new born boy whose name is Lo-Ammi (Not My People) all these names are not mentioned therein in the entire Quran.

The Comments about some remarks:

1- It is well known that the Lord God forbids adultery in the Bible; then how come that he commanded one of his prophets to marry an adulterous wife?

2- Would anyone believe that the Lord God who strongly forbids adultery says to Hosea: ""Go, and take to yourself an adulterous wife"? it is hard to believe that!

3- However, there is a hidden meaning of adulterous wife in the Bible that may solve this point. If you smart reader is interested, read my series of "The Foreigner woman in Bible versus Quran 1-13"

4- Also, the Lord God prophesizes that the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore, which cannot be measured or counted. It is well known that the Israelites were and are few in number throughout the history of mankind and they can be easily measured and counted.  Again, would the Lord God who knows better than us say that?

5- it is interesting that the Lord God chose some strange names for the newly born babies like the girl whose name was "No Mercy" and the boy whose name was "Not My People"!

6- It is also interesting that the LORD show love to the house of Judah and He rejected Israel. God will save Judah not by sword.

This is important because the sword is mentioned more than 400 times in the Bible (the sword is not mentioned at all therein in the entire Quran).

7- it is also very interesting that the Lord God will break the bow of Israel and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel and says that the Israelites are not my people.  Then all of a sudden, God changed his mind and says: "In the place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' they will be called ' the sons of the living God."

8- Would the Lord God change his mind all of a sudden like that?

9- Does the Lord God encourage Racism by saying that the Israelites are the sons of the living God?

10- it is clear that the Lord God changed his mind very fast although the Israelites did not change their behaviors.

The Bible, Hosea 1 (English Standard Version)

1The word of the LORD that came to Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

2When the LORD first spoke through Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea, "Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the LORD."

3So he went and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son.

4And the LORD said to him, "Call his name Jezreel, for in just a little while I will punish the house of Jehu for the blood of Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.

5And on that day I will break the bow of Israel in the Valley of Jezreel."

6She conceived again and bore a daughter. And the LORD said to him, "Call her name No Mercy, for I will no more have mercy on the house of Israel, to forgive them at all.

7But I will have mercy on the house of Judah, and I will save them by the LORD their God. I will not save them by bow or by sword or by war or by horses or by horsemen."

8When she had weaned No Mercy, she conceived and bore a son.

9And the LORD said, "Call his name Not My People, for you are not my people, and I am not your God."

10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered. And in the place where it was said to them, "You are not my people," it shall be said to them, "Children of the living God."

11And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint for themselves one head. And they shall go up from the land, for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

Back to my question to the smart and interested reader:

Are the Scholars truthful when they claim that the Quran quoted from the Bible?
