All about Goat Characteristics

The sheep or goat is the eighth sign in the Chinese zodiac and they are people who love to dwell on the workings of the inner recesses of their own minds. Rather than basking in the limelight, they prefer to hover on the fringes.

Appearances matter a lot to goat personalities. So they love to dress up and can spend hours before the mirror decking themselves up and beautifying themselves. They aspire towards freedom and liberty and stay away from material pursuits.

Metal goats are inflexible and rigid while doing their work, very determined and ambitious, prefer to trust their own observations and instincts rather than entertain the views and opinions of others and try to shield their fragility under a tough exterior.

Easy going, flexible, intuitive, gentle, elegant, witty but lacking in self-confidence these are the traits that best describe a water goat. They make attentive listeners and skilled orators who can convince people with their powers of persuasion.

Wood sheep are generous, sincere, helpful, caring, highly ethical, compassionate and gentle and attract hordes of friends. But they are deeply hurt when people try to exploit them or take them for a ride.

Fire goats are helpful, generous, obliging, intelligent, rational, more intuitive and creative than the other elemental goats; they make excellent problem solvers and enjoy the thought of basking in the social limelight and sharing the company of a constricted circle of relatives and friends.

Under the influence of the element earth, earth goats are level-headed, grounded and practical, methodical, systematic, obedient, reliable, conservative and independent. A disciplined approach to life and planning well in advance are some of the extremely praiseworthy qualities of an earth goat.

They are jovial and gay, hardworking and extremely attached to their family and with time they will prove to be irresistibly attractive because of their ability to make others cheerful. They tend to lack in self confidence.

Positive Side of Goat Character

Some of the strengths of a goat personality include modesty, determination, good manners, good tastes, elegance, gentleness, obedience, generosity, creativity and an intuitive faculty. They are fond of nature, extremely gifted, delicate and charming, possess an artistic bent of mind, always show due respect to people in authority or to elders and love to dream.

Their shy nature belies a crackling sense of humor concealed deep within and they are practical people, who instead of providing help themselves during crisis, will go to fetch help. Eagerness to please everybody plays a distinct role in their character and people find it difficult to resist the charms of this sweet darling.

Negative Side of Goat Character

On the flip side, goats are disorganized, insecure, indecisive, hypersensitive, narcissistic, self-pitying, reserved and timid. They have a strange knack for getting trapped in complex predicaments, but at the same time avoid confrontation, shy away from making weighty decisions and during conflicts, abstain from taking a stand which may render them unpopular.

You can accuse a goat of being indolent, hesitant, and pessimistic, of worrying incessantly and of being a lotus-eater/escapist and being obsessed with his own looks and appearance to an irritating degree. They are enamored of their exterior appearance. Criticism is something they can't stand.
