A Special Chosen People?

I don't think so! I don't embrace the fact that the Jews are a "chosen people" any more than anyone else. I don't believe that Christianity has any inside track on a salvation that only comes through Jesus. I don't believe that the incarnation (God coming in man) was only an event 2,000 years ago in the person known as Jesus of Nazareth. So, what do I embrace?

God is love and God loves all of his-her creation. God is no respecter of persons.

The SUPEREROGATION by any one man, or the payment of INDULGENCES, goes beyond the realm of a loving God who extends his-her love to ALL. Too many of the numerous sacred books (including the Bible have been claimed to be are more than they really are.

Alvin Boyd Kuhn puts it this way, "The sacred books became wonder-books of God's greatness and his whimsical capricious dealings, not with man as a whole, but with an alleged 'chosen people' whom he had selected to be the special objects of his favor and his interest." No one can measure to what extent such tales have eroded the confidence of many and increased the anger of others to those who HAVE, versus those who HAVE NOT.

Is there any wonder that Nietzche said, "The dictionary fails to supply me with words competent enough to  register my utter detestation of the 'slave morality' of such a Christian faith". God didn't choose some for slavery, some for success, some for royalty, and some for an eternal hell; however, man in his egoic and hedonistic ways has set up such categories.

'Thank goodness that God is so much more caring and LOVING than we've portrayed him-her.
