Thou Sayest

"And the high priest arose, and said unto him, answereth thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by thee living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the son of God. Jesus said unto him, Thou hast said:                    nevertheless I say unto you, hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven."

(Mat. 26: 62-64)

THOU SAYEST

Are we really who we say we are, or are we who others may deem us to be?

Who are we really?

Let me begin this to make myself understood with a couple of examples.

Your walking down a city street, and you happen to see a homeless person sitting in a doorway or alley way.

You turn to whomever you are walking with or even say to yourself ,"Look at that will you, dirty, disgusting, miserable bum, must be a drug addict or a wino"

Or you see some guy with long hair, dressed in ragged jeans, and right away many would deem that person as a biker, drug addict or as trailer park trash.

QUESTION

Do you know that person that you are referring to?

If not,

Then how can you make such judgmental statements?

You have already deemed (labeled) that person on no other basis than what you see.

I'm not putting the blame on any one particular person or organization becausewe all do it,

every single one of us. And I ask why?

On a more personal note.

Many have preached upon the pulpit and have deemed me

As anti-social, anti-governmental, or as anti-religious.

BUT AM I?

Let's even look at all this religiously. (For those of them that have deemed me as heretical)

Let's look at Mat. 27:11, Mrk. 15:12, Luke 23:3 and Jhn. 18:34.

In these scriptural instances, Jesus was standing in front of  Pilate, and He (Jesus) was asked,

"Art thou the king of the Jews?"

And Jesus answered "Thou sayest."

In the gospel of John, Jesus further said, " Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?"

In other words, Jesus answered Pilate basically asking, Is this who you think I am, or are you saying this is what I heard you are?

Jesus already knew, Yet it is a good viable question, because either way it was answered, Jesus could have then said, If you (Pilate) thinks I am the King of the Jews, why then even ask? Or if you think I am how can you honestly ask this question without even knowing me or what I am about?

Jesus could of also went further by saying If you are saying this is what others say I am, you  must think the same thing, because your judgment (opinion) of me has been swayed by the opinions or judgments of others.

When Jesus answered (Thou sayest), He said in so many words, regardless of how I answer you Pilate, you already formed in your mind an opinion of me, so who or what doyou deem me to be?

This still goes on today in our own judgments of others we don't really know.

We don't know the what's, when's, where, or how of why that person is where or what they are today.

Yet, through our own egos, we may deem them as something because we, or others around us deem them as such.

So who are we?

Who am I?

Am I what you see in front of you?

Am I what you may have heard of me?

Christ said as much to Pilate.

Who are you?

What makes up your persona?

Are you, you

Or are you a mixture of what others may perceive you to be?

We look down our noses at others around us saying we are better than them.

Are we?

We live in a society with a mind set of inflated egos, and false pride, yet when others around us judge us or form an opinion of us not to our liking we puff up like bantam roosters ready to fight, because the first thought when this happens is,HOW DARE THEY POINT A FINGER AT ME AND DEEM ME AS SUCH!!!

Yet, we do it every day, point our fingers at others.

We teach, what we have been taught

Yet, have we learned anything?

If so

Why so many of the same mistakes that we make as a society?

We laughingly point our fingers at others because they may be different, yet we cringe,

or even get fighting mad when someone points the finger at us.

So who are you?

Who am I?

Are you this, are you that?

In my opinion

I think you are

Your judgment of me has already deemed me to be.

So again

Who am I?

Well

Thou sayest

Only thou sayest.
