Self-respect: we all need it
Self-respect (SR) can be seen as an essential part of our mentality, as humans. It’s ok being loved by others, but it’s your own love that you need most! Hopefully, once you’ve read this article you’ll know plenty of ways to make yourself proud, and to feel good about yourself;
Employment:
Many people think that depressed people who are ’on the doll’ are depressed because they have no money, this is often not the case. Most of the time, it’s the lack of a job, a daily routine, that something to base your time around. We all need a job, it makes us feel proud to be earning, doing our bit, and is good for our minds.
Working Out:
This is probably one of the best, and my personal favourite! There are so many pros to working out;
Good body shape
Releases anger
Stimulates the mind
Can fill in small gaps of time
All in all, it’s great even if you already have a lot of self-respect! It’s suggested, and many have confirmed it, that working out makes you feel good about yourself, which increases self-respect. So buy in those weights!
Concentrate on the positives:
Try to keep thinking about your good bits, not your bad bits!
Here’s a little exercise for you;
Write down 10 things you love, and 10 things you hate about yourself
Get your friends to do the same (about you)
Compare the lists and then write down any similarities
Sort these into positive and negative
This has given you a basis to work on!
Don’t take it out on others:
Many killers take lives because they feel inferiority, this is a big part of self-respect issues. Taking it out on others will get you nowhere, you’ll feel worse!
Dress Well:
Believe it or not, how we dress has a major impact on our lives. I used to have bad self-respect. I mean fair enough, I wear raggy clothes, but I choose to because it suits me. If you’re a businessman, make sure you go to work with a different tie each day, if you’re a police officer, make sure your shoes are shiny, if you’re a hairdresser, do your hair and nails!
Run a blog: (you can find my article on blogging tips via my profile)
Blogs allow you to express your feelings, and you can make them completely private (I can help with this as well) - allowing you to get rid of those nasty thoughts before they eat away at you inside, the result if you bottle it up.
Failure:
Failing is good, treat it so. When you fail, you learn and are more wary the next time, so try to pay attention to your failures. Other people’s as well!
I hope this helps you out, and remember, keep at it!
