Sleep Apnea and Insomnia

Sleep apnea is a common disorder found extensively among adults. Insomnia disorder is frequently encountered by males who are stressed with work and unable to get sleep for long hours. In such a case people experience a shortage in easy breathing. Inhalation and exhalation of air takes a difficult turn and can be held up to 20-25 seconds and can be experienced as frequently as 10-50 times per night while sleeping or may be even more. It is one of two kinds: obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea.

Obstructive is more common and is fundamentally a breathing disorder. This arises due to pollution, health problems, tonsils etc. This could be treated out in a much easier way by exercises, taking precautions from dust, avoiding junk and oily meals etc. The central disorder is related to nervous system. In which the central nervous system stops proper functioning.

The body weight really matters under insomnia disorders. Being overweight causes breathing problem inside the body and results in abnormal respiration processes while sleeping. Loud snoring, feeling sleepy during the day time, staying absent minded, finding easy tasks very difficult, etc., are the symptoms of people suffering from insomnia.

Curing sleep apnea

Apart from modern scientific treatment sleep apnea can be treated in by adopting few simple daily routine techniques such as:

  • Exercising the respiratory organs
  • Daily practice of Yoga which includes various breathing techniques
  • Avoid unhealthy daytime sleeping
  • Doing overtime late night office work
  • Using less caffeine
  • Avoid the usage of tobacco, nicotine, cigars, alcohol which is agents of bad night sleep
  • Prevent using frozen and chilled food items that can cause tonsil problems etc.
  • Choose a darker room for sleeping
  • Use a comfortable and suitable bed for sleeping
