Guided Imagery-Promote Positive Changes

Imagery promotes powerful changes in your life, such as being happier or more assertive, creating more abundance, better relationships, or physical healing. Imagery is imagining, feeling, seeing, or describing something you would like to create. Imagery creates a new map for you to follow that in turn produces results on the outside.  When you practice a new reality in your own mind using imagery, you are telling your subconscious mind clearly about what you want, so you are creating the future outcome you want.  Maybe you have heard or read at sometime the subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between reality and in your own mind.  With visualization you can also neutralize the past. You can imagine speaking to the "inner child" part of you that was taught to believe in limitations and tell her or him about the new reality you are creating.

What do you want. . .

  • More time?
  • A new career?
  • A relationship?
  • Improved health?
  • Increased prosperity?

Decide what you want Create the mental picture or a feeling of what you would like to accomplish  Focus lightly on this picture/feeling during meditation times as well as during the day.  Faithfully use positive affirmations to give your goal the final additional energy.

What would you like to create differently in your life right now.

Let's think of something now, think about a shift you would like in your life.

A guided visualization to create change

If you can go to a place that is quite or a comfortable place with no interruptions.  Take a deep breath, and close your eyes. In your mind imagine a place you like to go to that is quite and comfortable, now go into that quiet space you have learned to access by meditation. Take several more deep, easy breaths. Now imagine the shift in your life you want to change, imagine it already has happened. You already have the time for you or your family, new relationship, the career you love, better health…. Visualize the details of this change as clearly as you can. What are you doing?  What are you seeing? What smells are there? Add in touch, sound, and taste were needed. How does it feel? What has changed for you? Feel the joy and excitement of this shift in your life. Encourage your mind to feel these changes, express gratitude to Spirit for this change. Now take a few deep breaths and gradually bring your awareness back to the room you're in. Open your eyes and stretch.

That feels so much better than focusing on the problem! Too often, people focus on a problem in their lives.  What they don't want instead of the solution of what they do want. Do not get discouraged if your thoughts tend to go else where.  It takes practice to train yourself to focus on the result you want, so be committed and persistent in your practice.  When a thought takes you to something else your mind is refusing to shift to the positive changes your about to make.  Simply recognize the thought and imagine saying I am aware of this thought and I refuse to accept it and guide yourself back to a positive image.

When meditating, use your favorite technique for the first 5 –10 minutes, then add in imagery for the changes you want in your life the remainging10 – 15 minutes.  Monitor exactly what the images are coming into your thoughts.  For example, to promote healing- focus imagery on the cancer cells are weak and confused, while your treatment is strong and powerful.  Your healthy cells have no difficulty repairing any slight damage the treatment might do. There is an army of white blood cells that overwhelm the cancer cells. At the end of the imagery session, the person sees him or herself healthy and reaching life goals.  Dr. Carl Simonton wrote the book Getting Well Again, he encourages people to create an image that fits for them.  Some people are fine with a rocket ship blasting a tumor, others aren't. Some actually seeing the white cells, or they can be an image that evokes the desired result. Using the image of cool flowing water to wash away his back pain is another option.

Imagery to promote healing of a physical disease:

  • Using the previous meditation techniques create an image that represents your pain or disease.  Visualize the treatment your receiving strengthening your body to heal and eliminating the cause of pain or disease.

  • Imagine your body's system related to that disease or pain.

  • Imagine that system being stronger than the disease or pain.

  • Visualize yourself healing and well moving forward in life achieving your goals.

Always end in a healing meditation. If you don't have any physical problems, you can also imagine a strong, healthy body where all the systems are functioning well and in harmony.

A guided healing meditation

If you can go to a place that is quite or is a comfortable place with no interruptions.  Take a deep breath, and close your eyes. In your mind imagine a place you like to go to that is quite and comfortable, now go into that quiet space you have learned to access by meditation.  Close your eyes and allow your body to relax. Breathe gently but deeply. Imagine a wave of relaxation flowing slowly from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet. Your immune system is strengthened, you have more energy and can see clearly every time you go into a relaxing space.  Imagine breathing in relaxation to any part of your body that feels tense or uncomfortable.  With each breath imagine washing away the pain.  Imagine a healing light bringing healing energy to every cell entering the bottom of your feet and flowing up through your body.  This light flows up through your body, bringing healing energy throughout all your glands and organs; it brings relaxation to your back, shoulders, and neck; it balances all the functions in your brain as well as enhancing your immune function. You can feel the positive energy throughout each part of your body.  Take a few more easy deep breaths, allowing that healing energy to freely flow through.  Now bring your awareness back to the present moment and this room. Open your eyes and stretch slowly.

Feel the energy in your body radiate out.
