Are You Afraid to Speed? Don't be Scared, But This Could Happen..

You're driving down the highway, just cruising along. You've got the cruise set to about 3 over the speed limit. Cars are flying past you, yet you are calm and content, enjoying your drive with nothing to worry about.

All of a sudden, up ahead you see a good ol' cop sitting on the side of the highway, halfway hidden by the highway barrier wall, and an outcropping of bushes. Your heart starts pounding. You grip the wheel tighter, your knuckles turn white. Drops of sweat start forming on your forehead. You squint your eyes and take a closer look as you near his little hideout. Yes, now you see it. Pointing straight at you! He's got that radar gun pointed directly at the hood of your car, and you know he's already pulled the trigger! You can't resist, instinct takes over. You smash your foot down on the brakes, going instantly from 3 over the speed limit to about 10 under, the most suspicious thing you could possible do the second you realize he's checking your speed.

You drive past, afraid to check your rearview. You don't want to look. A couple cars go flying past you, well over the speed limit. You ease up a little. Those guys would be getting ticked well before you. Then, in the rearview you see it. The flashing lights. You actually nervously laugh out loud, knowing that the crazy driver speeding past you is getting a ticket. You slow down a little to let the cop pass, but he stays behind you. What? You pull over.

"officer, I wasn't speeding, did I do something wrong?" The reply comes back, "please step out of the car." After about 20 minutes of running your license and your plates, the cop walks back over. "That was some suspicious driving back there. Do you care to explain?" You pause for a minute, not sure what to say. The only reply you can think of is "I was scared to speed, I knew I wasn't speeding, but then I saw you and freaked out!" The officer looks back at you like you are the dumber than a pile of rocks. He gives you your license back, gets in his car and drives off.

LOOSEN UP! LIVE A LITTLE! You floor it as you pull back on to the highway, peeling out for a good 20 seconds. Now that's life, and it feels good.
