How to Manage Your Time Wisely in 10 Easy Ways

For any business person, the concept of time management is an important one. The ability to capitalize on the time you have is proportionate to your success and productivity. While there are only 24 hours in a day, you cannot alter time but rather how you use that time. Here are some tips for your consideration.

1. Keep an Activities Log

Identify where your time goes by keeping a log of your activities each day. Be honest with this and you will have a snapshot of not only how much time you are wasting, but where it is going as well as how to claim that time back.

2. Make Rules and Follow Them

Once you have identified the things that drain you of available time, set goals to alleviate the problem. For example, make a goal that you will not accept personal calls during work hours. You will probably have more than one area that needs attention, but take them on one at a time and defeat them one on one.

3. Make a Set Schedule

Schedule your time out for the day. Set certain times for certain tasks. Leave enough time to get it done. Don't cut yourself short and cause yourself unreasonable stress. Notice when you get done, that way next time you need to accomplish the same task you know how long to schedule yourself.

4. Prioritize Your Tasks

The main idea behind time management is to prioritize your tasks. Keep the most important tasks in the forefront. You want to spend the most time on the important things.

5. You Can Only Do One Persons Job

Most of us, have a serious issue with letting others help us get things done. It's OK to either remove unreasonable tasks from our schedules or to pass the task on to someone else who can get it done. This leaves us time to get the urgent things done when they're supposed to be done.

6. Avoid Being Overwhelmed

Take big jobs and segment them into smaller parts. This makes them easier to manage and complete without seeming overwhelming.

7. Avoid Procrastination

We all have tasks that we do not want to do. Human nature is to procrastinate on these things. If you set a goal to spend 10 minutes a day on these tasks, you may be surprised to see that they can be completed faster than you thought possible.

8. Sleep

Lack of sleep slows done our entire system. Our minds are cloudy, our bodies are tired, and we are easily irritated. This does not help managing time one bit. So get enough sleep, and your tasks will go by in a timely manner.

9. Get Plenty of Exercise

Exercise not only clears the mind, but also gets the blood flowing, and releases endorphins. It readies us for these daily tasks. So, whether you go to a gym, simply walk around the block, or even just do some basic stretches at home, it will help get other things done quicker.

10. Take Breaks

Make sure to schedule in some breaks through out the day. Your body and mind need time to recharge. Then, when you get back on task, you'll see that being refreshed helps you refocus your energies on whatever you may be doing.
