Keep an Idea Book or Voice Recorder During Your Day to Maximize Your Brainstorming Time

The times when you're most creative are not necessarily when you sit down and brainstorm ideas.  The best ideas often come when you least expect them.  You might be driving your car, at your workplace, mowing the lawn, or doing grocery shopping.  If you're not carrying an idea book or voice recorder to record those ideas, you may be missing out on valuable ideas.  And you may have to work longer and harder to brainstorm ideas.

You may convince yourself that you can remember the ideas when they come to you.  Then when you get home or have access to a notepad, you can record it then.  But often, you'll forget the ideas by then.  And the great ideas would be gone forever.

So it's better to record the ideas right away when they come up.

To record ideas throughout your day, bring a small notepad with you.  It can fit in your pocket or in your purse.  You could also carry a small journal as your idea book where you record your ideas.

Whenever you have an idea that strikes you during the day, record it in your idea book.

But sometimes it's not convenient to use a notepad to record your ideas.  You might be driving and both of your hands are occupied.  To solve this problem, you can bring a voice recorder.  As you're driving, you can speak your ideas into your voice recorder.  Then when you get home, you can transfer those ideas into your idea book.  Or you can keep your ideas stored in your voice recorder.
