Wedding Picture Locations in the Gta

There are a number of factors to consider in choosing where to take your wedding photographs.  Proximity to ceremony and reception?  Weather?  Ambiance & Feel?  In this article, we will try give you locations and suggestions for you photos in the  Greater Toronto Area.

1.  Spend some time with your fiancé and discuss what kind of place you would like to take pictures (i.e. park with many flowers, trees, etc or a location with buildings and old monuments). Try and think about the kind of “feel” you want your pictures to capture.  Some may want a unique location for their pictures, perhaps photos taken near railroad tracks or a school, and others may want to be surrounded by nature.  Think outside the box.

2. Talk to your photographer, they should have a long list of places where they have taken wedding photos and can also give you suggestions of places specific to your needs.

Be sure to inquire about permit fees for your desired location as most locations require payment.

Be sure to give your permit to your photographer so they can deal with any issues that may arise.  It is also one less thing for you and your fiancé to worry about on your special day!

3. Don’t forget to think of back-up choices. Unfortunately, we do not have any control over the weather (i.e. rain, snow, strong winds, etc.) and should you decide to have your wedding pictures taken outdoors, it is best to also have an indoor location as a back-up.  Your photographer should inform you of this as well.

Permits are usually non-refundable so choose wisely.

4. Once you have a list of possible locations, take some time and go visit each place on your own with your fiancé.  It is not enough to base such an important decision on pictures found on the internet, you should see these locations for yourself.  You will probably visit many places so it is advisable to take pictures when you are there so that you can have some point of reference when deciding later.

Make mental notes of what pictures you would like to take and where to take them. (i.e if you choose a park, you may want pictures of you and your groom by certain trees, bridge, etc).  It is important to communicate these wishes to your photographer so that you will be happy with the result.

5. Timing is everything!!  Be sure to choose a location that is close your church and/or reception hall so that you can spend less time in transit and maximize your time taking photos.

Visit photo locations as close to the same time of day and week as your actual wedding day.  For example, if your wedding is on a Saturday afternoon, visit the locations around the same time.  This will be a litmus test to how busy the location is and if you will be waiting to use key areas of the location on your wedding day.
