Wedding Trends For 2010

As the economic crunch continues, couples are trying to figure out ways to plan the wedding of their dreams while curtailing spending.  It is truly possible to have an elegant, sophisticated, beautiful wedding ceremony and reception without spending above and beyond one's budget.  Couples have to prioritize what features of the day are the most important and what features can be lessened or even eliminated.

Brides are working hard to find discounted gowns or even second hand gowns that are in perfect condition.  Some brides are choosing wedding dresses in lieu of gowns.  Some of the top designers are showing gorgeous shorter dresses to accommodate brides that are opting for a dress rather than a traditional long gown.  Brides can do research and choose a couple of dresses or gowns and then scour the internet to try to find one at a discounted price.

Many couples are choosing a Friday evening ceremony and reception in order to reduce costs.  Others are choosing to eliminate meals and have desserts and drinks after their ceremony.  Wedding "high teas," brunches or luncheons are other lovely options and can be elegant and extremely enjoyable for guests as well as the bride and groom.

Many couples recruit help from family and friends to put together flowers and centerpieces.  The flowers need not be elaborate to be attractive.  Masses of monochromatic cut carnations are beautiful in a shallow vase.  Peruse magazines and books to find some centerpieces that you absolutely love and can replicate with ease.

Plan something really unique for your wedding that will make it stand out from the rest.  One example would be to hire costumed Victorian style Christmas Carolers for a winter or holiday wedding.  The carolers could serenade the guests as they enter the ceremony site as well as in the reception area sign in.  They could stroll and sing carols while the dj or band is on break.  They could even sing a custom carol to the bride and groom or to special guests of honor.

The year 2010 brings with it all kinds of exciting possibilities for brides and grooms to orchestrate the wedding of their dreams without overspending.
