How Much Weight Can You Lose In A Month

As a weight loss consultant, the question"How Much Weight Can You Lose In A Month?"is one of the most frequent questions that I get asked with. As simple the question might sound, there is actually no straight answer for it. The answer depends on several factors that are unique to each one of us. We are all different and therefore will have different metabolism rates.

For example, because guys have more muscles than girls, they also have a higher metabolism rate and hence will be able to lose weight faster than girls. Furthermore, if you are a physically active person, you will also lose more weight than when you are inactive physically. Your diet also will affect how much weight you can lose in a month. If you are eating food that is high in calories, you will naturally take longer to lose weight.

In perspective, weight loss is actually about controlling the amount of calories that goes into your body and how much calories that get burnt as fuel. The fewer calories that you are consuming and the more calories that you are burning then the more weight that you will get to lose. Roughly speaking, to lose a pound of weight, you will need to get rid of about 3500 calories.

Thus, getting rid of weight is either about reducing your calories intake or burning off more calories in your body. Nevertheless, it is not easy to cut out 3500 calories from our diet within a short span of time. This is because most of us consume only around 2500 calories per day. Hence, what most weight consultants do is to recommend dieters to reduce around 500 calories per day from our diet.

Also to burn off 3500 calories by exercising is not easy as this amount of calories is equivalent of 5 to 6 hours of exercise. This is the reason why health & fitness trainers advice most their clients to just workout for around 45 minutes each day in order to lose one pound of weight per week. In retrospect, with dieting and exercising we can lose roughly around 1 to 2 pounds per week and over a period of a month this amount to approximately 4 pounds to 8 pounds per month.
