We all know that the best way to lose weight is lose slowly over a period of time. But sometimes you find yourself in a situation where you want or need to lose 20 pounds in a month or two. Maybe less, maybe more. And jumping onto one of these "fad diets" isn't going to do it. I mean, do you really want to eat a bunch of meat and fat while avoiding all sorts of carbohydrates. I don't know about you but that would send my cholesterol level through the roof! And you probably don't find the idea of starving yourself for a month particularly appealing. Besides, most of what you lose that way is just water weight anyway. It'll come right back on as soon as the diet is over. If you're going to lose 20 pounds in a month or two you might as well keep it off.
Back when I needed to lose weight (I was getting married and wanted to fit into the tux that my grandfather had given me) I knew I wanted to do it the smart way. I did start walking my neighborhood but I knew I had to do something about my eating habits as well. So, I started checking online for a more modern approach to weight loss that would be easy for me to stick with, but wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg to buy. If you find yourself in the same situation you might want to do what I did. Pick up a copy of this book that will give you a method to "shock" your metabolism into changing the way that the two hormones work that control whether you burn fat or store it in your body. This works with something called "The Shifting Calorie Theory." You'll eat the right kind of calories and at the right times. Since timing is so important in this approach, you'll be eating more than three times a day for the first two weeks. But that's good because you won't be hungry. And let's face it; the first two weeks are the hardest. After that you've developed the habit of eating properly.
Losing weight doesn't have to be a chore. And not only will you look better, you'll feel better. And you'll be around a whole lot longer for your family and loved ones. I don't know if you need a better reason that that to lose 20 pounds in a month or two. Check out the link in my author's box for more information about the "Shifting Calorie Theory." You'll be glad you did.
