This dying tissue correlates to certain organs and can indicate the presence of imbalance or disease. Iridologists also look for white dots or lines that are thought to indicate inflammation. In addition, they look for rings and arcs that may indicate spasms of an organ.

By consulting an iridology chart you may also look for imbalances and markings on your iris for yourself. For instance, on the right side of the iris you may find problems with the spleen, heart and lungs. The left side will indicate the health of the thyroid, larynx and nose. When studying iridology, students will learn iris photography, the iridology chart and body systems, eye color correlations, eye discolorations, eye fibers, nerve wreaths, and other eye markings and health issues.
