Women Are More Prone To Obesity Than Men

Are fair sex are more likely to be obese than their counterpart? The answer is not so heartwarming for women as the recent studies significantly proved that globally women seems more likely to be more obese than men. Scientists link women obesity to their childhood conditioning and socioeconomic status. According to some scientists from Chicago who collected data from a township in South Africa revealed some surprising facts.

According to them, women who are nutritionally deprived in their childhood are more prone to be obese as adults, which is otherwise not an issue for men. Also socioeconomic status of women reflects on their health. Higher the socioeconomic status, less metabolism and hence more rotund figure. However, these factors doesn’t hold much water for men. According to the study, these two factors, which fully explain the difference between male and female obesity rates.

Another factor is also there but it is much of contemplative and speculative. According to it, "ideal" female body in female’s mind is much bigger than what men think of "ideal" male body and individuals with larger ideal body images are significantly more likely to be obese.

In the third world countries like in India also women are gradually becoming obese than men. In a recent study showed that in Indian state of Punjab and West Bengal more than 30 percent of women are bulging more than men. That also people living in urban dwelling outshine those living in rural hinterland. Irregular food habits, stress, less sleep and hormonal imbalance are some of the factor, which affect directly to the obesity of women.
