Six Easy Ways to Prevent Cancer

Cancer is still one of the most prevalent killers in our society.  The medical field has made giant strides in fighting this disease, but there are things that we can do as individuals to help our bodies fight off cancer.

  1. Eat colorful foods.  Basically you should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables of all colors—red, green, yellow and orange. A colorful variety of fruits and vegetables contain anti-oxidants that fight cancer.  You should try to eat at least five servings per day.
  2. Have fewer/safer x-rays.  If you have to have an x-ray in your dentist's office, ask if they have the capability to do digital x-rays which contain 75% less radiation than traditional x-rays.  Also, try not to have an excessive number of MRI's or CAT scans, which have also been linked to cancer.
  3. Avoid cigarette smoke.  If you don't smoke, then don't start.  Also, stay away from second-hand smoke as much as you can.  Cigarette smoke contains more than 60 toxins which put you at risk for a variety of cancers, including lungs, mouth, throat, pancreas and breast.
  4. Drink green tea.  Green tea contains unique antioxidants which shut down the blood supply to tumors by 70%.  All it takes is about one cup per day.
  5. Eat horseradish.  Horseradish contains sulfur compounds.  Scientists believe that these compounds stop cancer-cell growth by as much as 70%.
  6. Don't overcook beef.  If you eat your steaks well-done, then you are probably five times more likely to develop cancer than those people who eat their steaks rare or medium.  By cooking beef at high temperatures, you can trigger the formation of cancer-causing chemicals.
