The Power Of Affirmations In Your Life

Everything we are surrounded by on a daily basis is energy. Surrounding yourself with positive affirmations is a great way to attract certain things to you and to your life.

Affirmations are simple statements that we make, positive or negative. They may be made on purpose, like when we change a certain aspect of our life. They may also be made automatically like when we tell ourselves, "Oh, this is too difficult," when we are faced with climbing 10 flights of stairs.

How Affirmations Work

We go through our life according to our beliefs. For example: We know, and hence we believe that if we touch a hot stove, we will get burned. However, the belief system of a young child is not yet formed. Hence, they do not know the difference between hot and cold and are likely to touch the hot stove. When they get burns on their hands, or are told repeatedly that touching a hot stove will burn their hands, then their belief system is formed, and they will avoid ever touching the hot stove again.

All of our beliefs are stored in the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is like your body's computer. It takes an Input, processes it, and delivers an output. If you find that you are unable to make lots of money, it may be the thought held in the subconscious mind is something such as "I don't deserve to be prosperous." In order to change our beliefs, we have to operate at the level of the subconscious mind.

Use The Present Tense

Do not use the future tense. If you say, "I will be rich," your being rich will forever be in the future. The subconscious mind tries to literally bring about what it is asked to do. Hence, say "I am rich" or "I chose to be rich." Isn't it true that your present life is the result of the choices you have made in the past?

Be Positive

Using positive statements in your everyday conversations will attract positive energy. Positive affirmations can also be written down. Surround yourself with them. Use the picture of the fancy car you want to buy as your computer's wallpaper. Use floating $100 bills as your screensaver.  Paste your favorite motivational and success quotes throughout your home.

Using the dollar sign, and plus sign in your passwords, connected to your money accounts. If your password is password, write it this way…pa$$word+.

There are lists of affirmations handed down from leaders and successful people. Napoleon Hill in his book "Think and Grow Rich" suggests the card method. Write down your affirmation or a picture of your desire (car, house) on a 3x5 card and keep it in your pocket. Throughout the day, remove the card look at it or read it. Do this several times a day.

Remember, you are trying to reprogram a lifetime of thinking habits. Changes won't take place overnight.  Combining affirmations with creative visualizations can lead to speedier results.
