Power of BeliefPower of beliefWhat is a belief? Can strong beliefs affect your life? Do beliefs have power? To examine belief, we first have to understand how beliefs are formed. Studies show that most of people's beliefs are formed by age seven and most of our beliefs are acquired by our family, friends, and school. You know, many years ago, people thought that it was impossible to run a mile in less than four minutes. Doctors said that running a mile in less than 4 minutes is an unachievable goal and that if someone tries, his heart would stop. For many years, people never challenged that belief. However, there was a man by the name Roger Bannister who believed that he could run a mile in less than 4 minutes. What do you think was the result? He DID IT. He was able to run one mile in less than 4 minutes. The interesting thing about this story is that in the same year, more than 24 people ran a mile in less than 4 minutes. In the following year, more than 300 achieved the same goal. Do you see what thepower of beliefcan do? One person's actions changed thousands of people's beliefs in regards to running one mile in less than 4 minutes. Now, let me ask you, do you believe that you can achieve your goals? Do you believe in your power and strength? Do you really believe that you can achieve everything you want and desire? How many times you wanted to do something, but your family and friends made you believe that you can't do it? How many students believed that they are not good at a certain subject beause of something that the teacher has said to them? How many people stay in the same job for many years because they don't believe that they can get a more fulfilling job? Most of the beliefs that we acquired were made by people, like you and me. If someone tells you that your goal is unachievable, then you must know that this is his reality, not yours. Let me ask you a question, if other people could achieve their goals, then why not you? They are not better than you. We all have 24 hours a week, 7 days a week. The only difference between the ones who achieve their goals and the ones who don't is that the successful people follow specific steps and one of those steps is having strong belief in themselves. Start now by changing the way you look at beliefs and start by examining limiting beliefs. Beliefs are statements made by people and they are not facts. When you start changing the way you think of beliefs, then you will begin to form your own positive beliefs that will help you achieve your goals and everything you desire. |
