Teeth whitening peroxide is an alternative teeth whitening method to the more publicized dentist laser whitening procedures. In fact, it's a rather well kept secret, one that you'll probably not hear from your dentist. The truth is teeth whitening peroxide is a very effective and cheap teeth whitening treatment that can be done quickly and easily right from your own home. In this article I'll explain the secret to cheap teeth whitening using peroxide.

The active whitening ingredient in most professional whitening treatments is hydrogen peroxide. Most effective systems use a 10% peroxide solution which isn't readily available over-the-counter.  Solutions you'll find in a drugstore are 3% peroxide and have little whitening effect, so it is important that you use the 10% blend. Anything with a higher concentration than 10% can be dangerous so don't think that more is always better.

Occasionally you'll be able to find a bottle of 10% peroxide in the drugstore for about five or six dollars. Most of the time, though, you'll have to purchase a teeth whitening product that contains 10% hydrogen peroxide as its active whitening agent. Sometimes this is a little bit more expensive, but it's still a cheaper teeth whitening method than having it done professionally.

You will apply it differently depending on which 10% peroxide product you get. If you're able to find a bottle of it, which is ideal, you can either gargle or brush with a small swig of the peroxide. Make sure you don't swallow any of it because it can be extremely harmful if swallowed. Also limit treatment to once or twice a week for a few months at a time. Otherwise you may do damage to your tooth enamel and the inside of your mouth.

If you are unable to find a bottle and have to get a packaged teeth whitening treatment that contains 10% peroxide you will apply it differently. Part of the reason why this product is more expensive than the bottle is its ease of application. Most times these treatments are gels to be put in mouthpieces or whitening strips that are put on your teeth for a designated amount of time.

Both methods are inexpensive. In fact, other than some natural whitening methods, these are the two cheapest teeth whitening methods out there. If you're able to track down a bottle of 10% peroxide you can get months worth of treatment for as little as three dollars. If not you can still get quality, lasting whitening for only a few dollars more.
