It seems like everyone in the US is talking about obesity these days. I guess that's gonna happen when there's a disease that affects 30% of the population. But obesity isn't just prevalent in the United States. It's happening in Europe and all over the world. Just in the US the death toll is in the mid six digit range. But everyone had their own individual choice whether they want to be a victim of this epidemic or not, because there's lots of health literature all over the internet to help educate the average person on the adverse effects that obesity can have on their body and their life.

People end up becoming overweight for a lot of different reasons. Many people choose not to exercise when they know they should. I think most all of us are guilty of that to a specific extent. When you tend to do office work all day and all your co-workers are bringing Fried Chicken and Starbucks back to the office the signal you are getting in your head is that it's okay to eat whatever you want. We all have rights in this country to eat what we want is the standard attitude we all have in this country. But most people don't think about the consequences of the SAD Diet (Standard American Diet) until it's too late. The media with all their fast food commercials which also portray sweets and sugary drinks as healthy and normal is a multi billion dollar money maker and a big killer at the same time.

We live in a society where speed and convenience is becoming the norm. Some of your friends or co-workers might think you were some kind of whack job if they caught you chopping up broccoli, celery or carrots to take to lunch with you. You might even feel alienated when your friends take off to Taco Bell to grab some lunch while you eat your tuna sandwich and chopped vegetables back at the office. The point I'm trying to get at here is fast food and junk food are considered normal. No wonder so many people are heavier than they should be. You can change your diet by learning how to eat healthy foods and sticking to this. Eating healthy is different from a diet and is a lifestyle not a fad you should puruse part-time just because you are overweight.

If you have too much belly fat you should eat better but also exercise more. Yes your doctors have told you this at least dozens of times most likely but do you listen to them? You don't need to have a fitness membership to get plenty of exercise. God gave us two legs and feet for what purpose? The answer is so we can walk. Chances are you've been driving yourself almost everywhere because this is socially acceptable as well. But I bet most of you reading this have no idea of your bodies real physical potential. In fact we are capable of amazing things but most of us will never know how much we are capable of since we'll never push ourselves to our full potential. Start walking around the block, then the store, then all the way across town. Give your endorphins a chance to kick in and see how great you'll feel a couple weeks down the road.
