Millions of people are desperate to fix tinnitus .  You are not alone.  The ringing or rushing sounds can be a large disability in many people who experience them.  Those that do not suffer from tinnitus do not understand what the big deal is.

From my research on forums and groups, I found some common tricks that people are using to fix tinnitus or reduce it.  The broad name of the following techniques is masking.  Masking is used to drown out the ringing sounds with some background noise.  Basically, the goal is to replace the ringing with a more tolerable sound for the brain to pick up.

This technique does not work for everyone, but you can do a simple test on yourself to see if it will fo you.  All you need to do is stand near a faucet running on full blast.  If you get some relief from your symptom, masking may work for you.  The following are three common masking methods:

1.  Headphones: Some are able to fix tinnitus by listening to certain things through headphones for about a half hour.  It takes some experimentation with types of music and loudness (not too loud).  A high pitch recording from an instrument such as a banjo can give some relief.

2.  FM Radio:  All you need for this is a radio.  Simply tune it out until there is static.  Experiment with sound levels.  Many people attempt this at night because of the difficulty in falling asleep with tinnitus.

3. Commercial Maskers:  There are a wide variety of products to be researched.  Some of the most popular are small machines that create a white background noise.  Others include small devices that are inserted into the affected ear during sleep.  It is important to test what works for you individually.

The most important thing for you is to be creative with solutions.  These techniques should be a starting point in learning to fix tinnitus.  Keep in mind that different methods work for different people.
