Public speaking is an important topic in everyone's life. Some people are naturally good at speaking in public. Others aren't. No matter what kind of person you are I will provide you here with some tips that will help you to get better at speaking in public. Use Your Voice Effectively When speaking in public nothing is more important than to use your voice effectively. How do you use your voice in a better way? First of all you need to speak loud. Loud enough so everybody will hear you. The next point is to vary your tone. Don't speak in a monotone way. It will make your audience fall asleep as you speak. If you are excited about some things then try to show it to your audience through your voice. Then one of the last important points is to pause. When you are explaining a rather difficult topic then make longer pauses for the listener to be able to reflect on what you have said. Prepare Yourself Preparation is one of the essential aspects of speaking in public. Every professional speaker prepares himself for his presentation. One thing you can for example do is to arrive early in order to get used to your surrounding and to be able to make better use of it. But of course you also need to prepare your presentation. That can go as far as outlining the points you are going to make in your presentation. But it can also just mean to hold your presentation in front of people you are familiar with. Practice, Practice, Practice Practice is essential. Nobody is born as a great public speaker. And yes it might be the case that some people feel more comfortable speaking in public then others. But that might be the case because they already have lots of experience from speaking in public. One of the most rewarding things you can do is to videotape yourself while you are holding a presentation in front of an audience. Then take a look at the tape at a later point in time and try to understand what you can do better next time. Write it down for your next presentation.
