Combivir is a combination of zidovudine and lamivudine both of which are known for their antiviral properties. These two medicines are said to belong to a group of Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) medicines which are also known as reverse transcriptase inhibitors. This is one of the very few effective medicines which work towards controlling the HIV virus from reproducing in the body. Combivir medicine is thus popular for being used to treat HIV.
