From the 1980s until now, the Mormon church has produced inspiring art for Mormon youth called Mormon ads. The goal of this type of advertising is not to sell a product but to inspire youth to be their best selves. These ads are in the New Era magazine produced by the church on a monthly basis. Usually Mormon ads have a picture or a metaphor with a short phrase. These ads usually teach a lesson in morality or other topic pertinent to youth. Sometimes the ads are accompanied by a scripture from the Mormon standard works. One example of the posters includes one with a vase of red roses with a white daisy in the middle. The catch phrase says, "Be your own kind of beautiful." This one was released for the first time years ago, but can be purchased currently at the church distribution center. Another has a picture of a frog wearing a crown with the saying, "There aren't any frogs, just handsome princes who don't know who they are." There are so many things in this world grabbing for the attention of our teenagers and children. This type of art can help youth implement Christian principles into their own lives. Many youth hang these posters on their walls or doors to their rooms. They are quite popular and can be found in homes of most Latter-day Saints. Many stores make posters available of singers, movie stars, sport heros and other popular figures. Youth often hang art and posters from the media portraying famous people as being beautiful and successful. Mormonads are a simple and very profound way for youth to remember to reach for their best. This helps them forget the latest fashions, fads and gimmicks. Having this type of Mormon art helps teenagers and youth to work towards, happy healthy and moral living. This can be a wonderful alternative to the worlds corrupting influence.
