People are lucky enough to have not gone through an asthma attack may take such conditions lightly, but the truth is that it can be a very terrifying ordeal. If you are wondering how it feels like to actually have an asthma attack, then think about how it feels to slowly drown except that there is no water for you struggle with, the feeling of slowly running out of oxygen to the point in which you might just lose consciousness.

Sadly, asthma is among the fast growing chronic conditions around the world today. It has become surprisingly common among children and induces great difficulty in breathing caused by bronchial tube inflammation. This inflammation is typically caused by irritants or allergen which can be anything from dust to pollen. The increasing pollution level in the environment also plays a big part in the wide spread and rising cases of asthma attacks.

The worst thing about asthma is the fact that it is not a condition that can be cured. Individuals suffering from asthma have to resort to using medicine inhalers intended to soothe and unclog their airways during an asthma attack allowing them to breathe normally. Asthma can also affect a person's quality of sleep since they tend to cough a lot early in the morning or at night.

Some of the typical symptoms of asthma include shortness of breath due to insufficient amounts of oxygen and a painful constricting feeling in the chest. Now not everyone develop the same kind of symptoms and they vary in terms of intensity. Some symptoms can become so full blown that it may actually become life threatening.

Asthma is indeed a terrifying disease and one that tends to make people constantly worry. It is typical for parents of asthmatic children to be over protective and constantly worry about their children's whereabouts since no one can really predict its occurrence. People who believe that they had outgrown such conditions may be surprised to see it visit them once more in the future. As mentioned, it can never be cured but it can certainly be managed which is an important aspect of living your life with it.
