Is your best friend getting married? Have you been asked to stand best man at the wedding? Well with it goes the Best Man Wedding Toast and is the thought giving you butterflies? This article is for all the best men out there who are agonizing over the toast that has to be given. There are tips and guidelines to help you write a riveting best man wedding toast.

Weddings around the globe differ greatly from one another in terms of clothing, customs and ceremonies. The wedding toast originated in France when it was customary to drop a small piece of toast into the couples’ glasses for a healthy life. The Best Man Wedding Toast probably originated in Anglo-Saxon times when the best man was more the bride’s protector.

Being asked to stand best man is an honor and it is usually the groom’s best friend who assumes this honor. There is some element of pressure in having to stand up before a large crowd and give a speech without making a right mess of things. In order to write a great toast you need to be patient and creative, and with a bit of effort you might just amaze yourself with the results.

You could always start out by putting down your thoughts on the groom whom you should know quite well if he is your best buddy. Then write down what you know of the bride. Write things like how you know them and for how long, describe them using the first five adjectives that come to mind, go on to talk about how they met and recall one or two humorous incidents that occurred during their courtship. Now you have the rough outline for your best man wedding toast.

Now its time to put it all together into a humorous yet entertaining speech; begin by introducing yourself and to get people’s attention straight off tell a joke or a funny story. Go on to thank the people who are hosting the evening, usually the parents. If the bride and groom are the hosts then thank the people for coming to help the couple celebrate the joyous occasion.

At this stage you could relate the funny incidents about the couple or the groom and talk about how they met and your experiences with them through the relationship. Don’t ramble because people get bored easily and don’t tell stories that will humiliate either the bride or groom and certainly no talk about ex-partners.

Now move to your closing which should include a resounding cheer for the newly married couple. It is customary to raise your glass and propose a blessing and to wish the couple the very best for their new life together. In your nervousness don’t forget to sip your own toast!

The internet is a great place to get ideas for writing humorous anecdotes that will hold people’s attention while you are making your best man wedding toast. Use the guidelines in this coupled with some ideas from the internet to write a great toast and do the bride and groom proud on their special day.
